Taken 2 (Blu-ray SteelBook) [UK]

Word of caution from an UK HDN Member about HMV (thanks VRob98)

HMV now in administration said:
People should just be aware of 2 things:

1) If you receive a damaged or faulty copy from now on, you will not receive a replacement or refund

2) If they charge your card and are then unable to fulfil your order, you will not be refunded.

The way a company operates whilst under administration is quite different to how it operates normally, and certain consumer rights are suspended. If anything goes wrong you would have to apply to the administrator or claim against your credit card issuer.

I'd encourage everyone who has orders in with HMV to consider the above, as I'd hate to see anyone here lose their money in all of this.

Release Date: February 4th, 2013
Price: £14.99

What policy? They're only agreeing to lower the price out of good will. They have no obligation to do so. I wish I hadn't posted about this as all it has done has caused people to ***** and moan instead of praising Amazon. I did not expect Amazon to do anything, but they did and that's why they're the best online retailer. They consistently provide the best service and yet people are moaning that they can't get £3 back that they're not entitled to anyway.

If it had been me, I probably wouldn't have even mentioned it on here. Within a couple of hours, it had snowballed from just you sending a cheeky e-mail to everyone jumping on the bandwagon. Imagine all the visitors who just happened to be viewing the thread, they probably "jumped on the bandwagon", add that to those who probably went to post this on other forums. Amazon probably got bombarded with 1000 e-mails demanding a poxy 3 quid refund. We should be supporting these retailers in the current climate.

Just my 2cents.

Exactly right.

I've said it before, the preorder price is the lowest price between the time you order and the time it's despatched. Nothing more. If you order at £15 and it goes up to £20, you pay £15. If you order at £15 and it goes down to £10 you pay £10. That's it.

It was offered at a lower price before many people ordered it, but that's just too bad. TBH Amazon shouldn't really have given a reduction to anyone, thay should have just said 'tough luck mate, should have ordered sooner'. Luckily for some, as a goodwill gesture they lowered the price to those who complained.

Having said that, they shouldn't have swapped the amaray for the steelbook automatically for those who ordered it, but you can see why they did. Mainly to save time and effort on cancellations and reorders.

I wish I hadn't now, but obviously it's too late. I just wanted to help out other members, I didn't expect it to become such a huge issue.

Exactly.

But anyway, back on topic... does anyone actually know what makes this the "extended harder cut"? Has there been any word of what scene(s) were missing from the theatrical version yet?

Much like Hunger Games the movie was cut so it could obtain a 12a certificate in the cinema. I think they have also restored some scenes that were left out so it could get a PG13 rating in the US, it's still nowhere as extreme as the first movie's 18 certificate

This is the US comparison, but I suspect the UK edition is identical.

Thanks guys!

I found this film fairly disappointing as a sequel, but I'm definitely looking forward to rewatching it now... there seems to be quite a few extended scenes and the violence has been turned up, which should hopefully make it a bit more entertaining to watch. :D

I'm guessing the print run for this is more than 4000, so in no rush to get this or Skyfall given the exclusivity is gone.

Skyfall is an amazon exclusive ;)

I did something really cheeky and complained to Amazon about being charged £14.99 when those who pre-ordered got it for less :naughty:

Here is the response I received:

hey guys, i contacted customer support on amazon.co.uk

Im sure youre all aware of the situation that has occurred for people who pre-ordered the Taken 2 Standard blu-ray, they got bumped up to the steelbook version at no extra cost. so it works out £11.89 for the steel.

Anyways, in order to get this discount, follow my instructions below.

I apologise if this has already been covered. Anyway,

Go to the Help section of Amazon.co.uk

Click on the ''call me'' section.

They rang me straight away, and i explained i know people have been charged just £11.89 for the steelbook and the very helpful girl on the phone instantly said ''ok, you can have it for £11.89'' and said contact them next week about skyfall reduction.

So basically, i suggest getting them to call you instead of emailing as it was literally a 2 minute phone call and there were no problems.

Hope this helps guys :oohyeah:
