I want to bite the bullet on this but does anybody know how the transfer looks on this compared to the UK skynet release? I hear great things about the Japanese premium edition (No DNR) is this from the same master as it?

Nevermind, it appears to be the same VC-1 encode as the UK's optimum disc, which is serviceable but needs room for improvement. This really is a beauty but to have a better transfer like the Japanese Mpeg 4 premium would have been the icing on the cake and I can't bring myself to paying over €70 when there could be a remaster on the horizon. But those embossed eyes... Gah!

I've opened mine, but I've yet to watch it. It's worth buying for the steel alone even if the audio isn't up to par. You could always swap in another disc. ;)

Seeing that you've opened yours :D
Is it region free or A locked?
Seems to be mixed reports on this.

I'll pop it in my PS4 to test it because my BR player is region free.

I just tested it in my PS4 and it played flawlessly. Sound was great too. :)

If you're PS4 is region free, wouldn't it be able to play anything that is Region Locked, too?

See this link

To my knowledge, PS4s are region locked for movies.

Just to be sure I tested it in my PS3 and my Panasonic (non region free) blu ray player that's in the guest bedroom and it played fine on each.

I really want this steel but I am hoping to be patient and look for someone to unload it cheap. I don't really want to pay more than $40 for it or do a trade. Based on the prices I have seen I don't think its out of the question.

Think there's more chance of Scarlett Johanssons baby being mine than you getting this new and sealed for $40! It cost more than that to buy new from the retailer!

Cheapest I have seen it go for is around the $55 to $60 mark and that was only once.

There will always be auctions for below cost in pretty much anything from cars to steelbooks on ebay. Auctions are where you can get stuff below cost. If you have the time and patience and luck you can get lots of things below cost. That doesn't mean that is the market price for any said item. I just got a Sealed mint Hellboy 2 Germany for $48 the other day. That is way below market value. Luck happens.

So you expect someone to purposely sell it to you at a loss? :hilarious:

Its Kimchi Exclusive #1. Everyone wants to complete the Kimchi Set. Prices have started to rise dramatically since Thor 2 was released on a lot of Kimchi exclusives.

The only way your going to get it below cost is an auction gone bad.

Well thanks for laughing at me but I base what I have said on prices I have seen before on the forums and ebay. I have seen them sell in the $40-$50 at least a half dozen times I just didn't have the dough at the time.
