Got my order in as "Gift" and selected EMS for shipping. My first Korean steel so wanted to be extra cautious. Apologies if already asked but I just want to understand, for future orders, how safe is the regular, un-tracked shipping option to US and do we get hit with customs if "Gift" option is not selected?

I have never been hit by customs at all.

It has to be a pretty sizable order to get hit with customs' charges coming into the US. Regular shipping is fine. I have virtually no issues, if you don't mind waiting sometimes.

How much is this shipped to the UK? :)

Buddy it's about £14.00 EMS for one Steelbook not £28.00 as stated above...;)

---------- Post added at 07:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:13 PM ----------

£28, give or take depending on the exchange rate.

If that's what your paying for one Steel then you are paying double for EMS than what I pay :wtf:

I paid £28.xx the other week when it was at $32.99, shipping was $8.xx. Not sure what EMS is but probably some overpriced insured service.

Cooey asked for price with shipping, which in my case is £28 all in.

Ok I misread the post..

And EMS is what nearly all the guys here use for shipping Asian steels as its the safest and only way to protect yourself if the package goes missing..;)

I always use EMS and although it costs more at least you no by the tracking exactly where your package is. Plus if your order goes missing using standard shipping as you have, you will have major problems getting a refund or replacement from any Asian steelbook sellar !!

If you were a regular buyer of Asian steels you would no this.. :movie:

Although I agree with your post earthscope, you are more likely to be hit with customs with EMS in the UK. Depends how much you order and whether you take the risk! I've just had a polite request for £69 from Parcelforce for duty and customs... First one for Kimchi and seems very high for what I've ordered!!!

I get customs invoices even with regular shipping every time I've recd Asian steels... Part of life in these neck of the woods I suppose.. :)

Your right Liam thats the chance we guys take in the UK.. So far I have been lucky and not had a package stopped once, but I no the day will come when I have to pay duty..;)

But I would rather pay duty because of using the insured EMS Service, because it gives me peace of mind should my package go walkabout, knowing that it will be so much easier to get a refund or replacement from Kimchi,JSDVD,etc ..

Plus I like to be able to see exactly where it is in the chain at any given time. OCD I no..:hilarious:

Especially if you have 5 or more steels in one order. EEK!
