Personally, I don't really care about the slip, be it a full or a quarter. I guess, if I had a choice, I would go with a quarter. TobinFrost's idea of a vertical slip might work quite nice, actually.
The problem with a full slip, IMO, is that the steel is completely hidden. Then again, I can't say I really care. If it comes to worst, the slip can be discarded off
I think they will come up with a beauty either way. I really like the way things are working out so far. Go Kimchi!!!

Logic (term) defined as convincing forcefulness; inexorable truth or persuasiveness. There is logic to slips? If there was or is logic behind slips I do not know it. Slipcovers, booklets, and stickers are simply preferences over casual releases (ex. Terminator 2 version 2.0). Buyers/collectors may consider steelbooks with added material over steelbooks with none or meager extras.
That being said, please enlightenment me on what is the logic behind steelbooks. I till this very moment did not fathom the reason behind steelbooks. Here I thought steelbooks were a product of marketing, an approach for vendors (such as Zavvi) to generate profit. Eduardo Figueroa, marketing manager of Scanavo steelbook, alleges, “… I don’t know if the movie studios observe this, because what they want is to sell as much as possible and, to be honest, I don’t know if they care much for the collector’s market.”
Are we steel fans here, or slip fans here? Because if you're a slip fan, I hate to tell you, you might be in the wrong section of the forum. We do have a slip section, you might wanna go there instead.
Great balls of fire! You mean members cannot like both.I heedlessly believed steelbook collecting catered to all sorts of collectors. I assume quite a number of members are going to be disappointed after hearing this ‘truth’. In that case we must start a petition against Korea, Taiwan, and Japan slips. Asian retailors must know we are not interested in their slips anymore, and that we caught on to their trickery. All this time members were going crazy for Asian steels, and it was due to slips. How could have we (members) been so blindsided. Ugh, how I repent buying Ted Korea and Iron Sky Japan.
Stickers also have ‘plagued’ steelbooks. It’s only right that a forum for stickers be created, as stickers also play a role.
So let me try and follow your logical train of thought. In order to actually see the steelbook, a person MUST purchase 2!, just to have the pleasure of viewing?
Logical train of thought, I like that. Anyways, no you do not have to purchase two copies of the same steelbook to enjoy it. I do not know where you got that from? I rarely double dip, but for this title I will make an exception I can’t wait to open my second copy. This is what I usually do for certain titles, and I know I am not the only one. I didn’t recommend this habit of mine onto others at all, or tried to shove this idea down their throats. I do not have a single clue how you thought I suggested it to the forum. Sorry, I am not familiar with your logical train of thought.
Hi-Def Ninja members are free to do what they want with their purchased steels. Every member holds different tendencies. You might find this hard to believe, but some members open their steels without purchasing multiple copies.
As I stated before, different members hold different tendencies. I still have no clue where you are getting this idea that I’m forcing or even suggesting members open their copy. I know I stated I would open a copy of mine. Members can enjoy it as they please, whether through foil or pictures online. Though, I won’t take back when I stated, “Touching the actual surface of a steelbook is ten times better than feeling it or seeing it through foil.” When I opened my Death Race debossed it was first-class feeling. The steel was luminous, cold, and heavy like it should be, it even had a sort of brand new smell. My fingers felt nice going over the unique debossing. Members don’t have to open their steels and I can respect that, but the feeling of steelbook is pretty satisfying.
As for the value when opening a steelbook, it would go down. I seriously do not why you asked a question you know the answer to. Nearly anything that is new drops in value when it is open or lightly used. You can drive a brand new car off the seller’s parking lot and it would automatically decrease in value. This must have been a rhetorical question.
Also, since you asked nicely, you have my permission to open your steelbook. Whether it is viable you really need to ask yourself that, not me.
I remember there was a poll quite a while ago asking how many members open their steelbooks. The majority who open their steels beat the members who would rather not. Though, the results if done again could be different. We have many new members and steelbook habits might have changed as well. So, your assumption that ‘that many would want to keep this sealed’ is speculation, for the moment being.
To finish, this will be an exceptional release by KimchiDVD. Choi said it would be a full slip, and like before I trust his judgment. I even made a post of Choi’s validity. Even if it is not I will not cancel. I look forward to KimchiDVD’s next exclusive. Everyone has different taste, but no member should try to shove their taste down other members’ throats, or mock them for having opposing practices.
While you're discussing the full slip thing, you tell Tony that the best way of approaching this is Elite Squad Blufans excl. This has the the factory seal beneath the slip, and would please both parties, not just the full slip crowd. You tell Tony it makes absolutely no sense in covering steel with cardboard. Having a great steel wrapped up in a material that my cookies and cereal comes in is not desirable. Failing that, get rid of the full slip, go with a quarter slip instead.
Had an inkling this would happen because release date is 2 weeks away, yet still no final design for the slip/packaging and I guess by now they'd have needed to be manufactured and assembled to meet the date.
No issue though, a few weeks wait for a stunning release is worth the wait.

Good for you little buddy.

Yes, damn this iPad.
Way to contradict yourself. Which is it full slip, partial slip, no slip?
You don't see the logic? Well let me enlighten you my little friend. If you're gonna charge people a good premium for steel rather than plastic, does it make sense to cover it up? Why would it? do people have X-ray vision? Whats the difference between steel and plastic, if its covered up by cardboard? I don't remember asking you permission for anything actually. I'm looking out for the collectors who choose to leave their steels sealed. What options would a person have if they're a steelbook fan, if the steel itself is covered in cardboard? Either open the item, loosing 1/2 its value, or never get to see the steel itself. Do these sound like good options to you? You got any other suggestions?
Your right about 1 thing different members have different desires, you best keep that in mind, if you think everyone prefers a full slip. No contradictions on my part. No slip, is best case, quarter slip is next best, full slip like Elite Squad comes in 3rd and full slip encased in factory seal did not finish.
Guys, a final, friendly reminder - this is the main steelbook thread. Please keep all discussion focused on the steelbook of the thread out of respect for the forum members subscribed to this post especially those waiting for this to come back in stock.
