Did anyone figure out what they were aiming for with that cover? The weird grins and all.

Seems to me that whomever designed this steel front, was either trying to play on the original poster with Steve Carell grinning like child or that there actually was an original poster that carried over the grins to all the actors.
Most likely the former imo. Trying to be too clever and reconstruct one of the original posters to incorporate all the characters. Comes off proper weird.

Why is Elizabeth Banks just a little over the border but Marisa Tomei is so far over the border that it looks like her image would probably stretch over to the side of the box?

Just got my copy and it's meh. The front image is fine (albeit the character making it look weirdly off-center), but the back 'art' looks pretty bad and the finish is streaky matte. If the tariff situation wasn't what it is right now, I'd probably import Universal steelbooks from Europe these days since they tend to get a gloss finish. With money being so tight right now I'd have been better off skipping this one.
