Not entirely sure how it works myself mate lol! I know blurays contain a hell of a lot of room that's basically unused size wise but that's as much as I know.

The AV stores here are certainly pushing it now over 3DTV's.

It's a Sony disc. And Sony has been great at confusing the 4K situation. This movie was 'mastered' in 4K resolution, but the blu-ray itself is the same 1920x1080 resolution as any other blu-ray disc.
