I think it's a really average steel book.
Anyone else or just me? :dunno:

I wasn't blown away by it. It's ok. I saw it in store next to Ninja Scroll which seriously tramps all over it in terms of aesthetics and desirability

I don't see Spidey figuring highly in anyone's SB of the year list.

I don't think it's steel of the year after all.

Spidey looks great and love how his emblem and eyes gets reflected, but the city itself isn't as nice as I thought it would be, and the back is a little lazy, there is no continuation on the spine so the back could easily have been something more interesting. The inside is crap, didn't like it in the pictures, don't like it in RL.

A nice enough steel though, well worth picking up.

and still nothing :(

Same here.

It's just a joke. If I could easily get to an HMV I would, but the time and cost incurred isn't worth it. HMV must be well aware of the problems (Avengers Assemble took 15 days) but I guess they're tied in to a contract with TNT. It just really isn't good enough. If Amazon.de can get me the Spider-Man trilogy in 3 days what the hell is going on with HMV?

It should be the policy of all e-tailers to get you preorders either on the day of release or as close as possible. If it wasn't for their exclusive steels I would never use HMV, ever!

Feel for you guys who haven't received it yet. That sucks. Since switching to TNT for collection and sorting, these delays are becoming the norm. It's not good enough when other e-tailers can deliver on release date.

Do make sure you complain in writing AND over the phone because I know that feedback comments and complaints do get passed back up the chain at HMV.

i dint know they had switched to tnt. dont know why any company does it, royal mail end up delivering it anyway.
i had 3 things despathced on the same day, spiderman from hmv, et from amazon, ted from play. got everything apart from spidey. im worried about my other hmv preorders now.

its not just HMV recently. ive had a crappy service from amazon.co.uk this month with a load of orders.
although i ordered from amazon.ca and it took 2 days from dispatch to delivery and was delivered by DHL.

As I understand it, TNT collect and sort all the packages then pass them onto Royal Mail for delivery. It's all part of the deregulation of mail services in the UK, allowing other delivery companies to tender for contracts.

Unfortunately, TNT seems to be the weak link in the chain. I don't whether it's the handover to Royal Mail that's causing the holdup, or whether TNT are just not sorting the packages as quickly and efficiently.

Either way, the Royal Mail claim they're not making enough money by doing this, so the inevitable result will be across-the-board price hikes. So in the end it's Joe Public who will take the hit, as usual. :ugh:

It is known as downstream access within Royal Mail......companies such as TNT can cherry pick contracts, such as the HMV contract, but eventually pass it on to Royal Mail to deliver, after they have made a profit. Royal Mail deliver these as soon as they are passed on to the network, not before. It is all part of the deregulation process as you stated......apologies for straying off-topic.:(

still nothing. just wrote a massive complaint on hmv's facebook.

"I would like to make a complaint agianst HMV.
I am not at all happy with the service you have provided me. As a regular and long serving customer of HMV I am extremely upset and annoyed with recent purchases from yourselfs. Your delivery service is not acceptable and the waiting period before you can make a claim when something has not been delivered is far too long.

I have now had 2 limited edition 'Avengers' steelbook blurays not delivered. These weere thankfully replaced but with a waiting period of 3 weeks which is not acceptable.

Now I have pre-ordered limited edition 'Spiderman' steelbook which was sent Wednesday 21st December and have still not recieved this item. I know of a friend who also orderd two of these 'Spidermans' from HMV, at the same time as me and they have already recieved their items. I would like an explanation as to why this has happened as I would expect a 'Pre-order' to be delivered at a reasonable period around the release date.

I am a collector of limited edition steelbooks and the fact that my orders keep going missing from HMV make me extremely worried that I will never recieve this item and then HMV will run out of stock. Your 21 day waiting period to make a claim is rediculous for limited edition items. There are only so many of HMV exclusive limited edition items produced so HMV could very easily run out of stock within this period.

I also have several other pre-orders with HMV which are Christmas presents for people and I am concerned I will not recieve them before Christmas. And then if these items do not turn up (which seems to be happening very regularly) I will have to wait 21 days to claim which means I will not recieve them in time before christmas. Rendering these purchases useless.

Your competitors like 'Amazon' and 'Play' manage to get my purchases to me within two days of sending them. I have also had no problems with overseas companies so I am rather annoyed and confused as to why their is a hold up. I understand that HMV have recently changed delivery contracts from 'Royal Mail' to 'TNT'. Why? this is probably the reasoning behind the long delivery wait.

I am becoming extremely frustrated and unhappy with the service provided by HMV and will not hesitate to warn other customers as this is not acceptable for a company with a well respected reputation.

Regards"

Ironically I sent a very similar email to HMV today explaining that waiting 9 days for Spider-Man to arrive was unacceptable.

The reply was that 'most items arrive in 2-3 days'. Really? My first Avengers Assemble never turned up and the second took 2 weeks. Ghost Rider took 9 days. Clash of the Titan 3D took 10 days. Spider-Man has now been 9 days.

What is the point of pre-ordering something if it's not going to be anywhere near the day of release? We can't all get in to an HMV on the Monday. Due to the time and expense it would cost me to go to HMV I never go in-store.

Very good post.

My guess is some some sort of automated response that isn't worth the time it takes to read it, which is unfortunate, i actually wonder sometimes whether an actual human being reads complaint e-mails, or does there system just generate the auto response e-mail, oh for the days of customer service.

The choice is crap. Either order online and wait, and wait, and wait for your supposed "pre order" to arrive or go in store and play the price lottery, will it be the same price as online, or will it be £5, £10 or even more in store.

Another top notch Steelbook from Sony. I love the glossy finishes they use on their Steelbooks like this one, Salt, Resident Evil Afterlife etc. they feel so much better than a matte finish.

"Your 21 day waiting period to make a claim is ridiculous for limited edition items."

Unfortunately they'll probably argue that the claim period is tied to the Royal Mail's policy of not considering claims for loss until at least 15 days after posting. I agree that 21 days is too long though.

In the case of limited items, it's probably just best to re-order regardless and then claim later, if your finances can handle it.
