What is the 3d version like? I haven't seen the film but if the 3d is good I may settle for the amaray on this one. I can't understand why the SB isn't in 3d as well?? :(

We've hear time and again how some consumers are willing to buy the steelbook and a 3D version of a given movie. I wouldn't be surprised if this at least in part has something to do with it.

Steelbooks sell enough in their own right without having to offer the best or most complete version of a release. 3D is still a small corner of what is already a small market. I doubt sales of the steelbook would be stronger with the 3D version added and even if they were, it might still work out less than the sales created by people buying both.

We know from experience that sales of say Iron Man, Iron Man 2 and other Play.com exclusive steelbooks were very good, yet they didn't even contain the best versions on disc that had already been released (usually disc 1 of 2). The recent Warner range is the same in a lot of cases, Blade Runner being one.

Personally, I'm more annoyed by DVDs being left out of new Blu-ray releases as I don't have a Blu-ray player in every room in the house. I also have no interest in 3D, nor will I ever as an issue with one of my eyes prevents me from viewing it anyway. That said, I suppose it would be nice to be given the choice of a regular steelbook and a 3D steelbook, or at least have both in the box if it would otherwise have been a single disc release like Wrath of the Titans.

I should say that I haven't yet seen the 3D version myself, but from everything I've heard and read, it seems the 3D fx are pretty good in the action scenes, but less so in dialogue scenes, which seem pretty flat by comparison.

It does seem strange that they haven't included the 3D version, as with Prometheus.
