I went with movie mail as well but so far no dispatch. If it's still like that on Monday night then I can be pretty sure I'm not getting a copy.
With people already paying GBP 40 on the secondary market for this steelbook I wasn't about to grumble with the Amazon price yesterday when they had quite a few for sale although I found it surprising that the Amazon stock went quicker than the HMV stock despite costing almost 7 quid more apiece . . . until, that is, I remembered overseas buyers and HMV shipping.
If I hadn't secured my copy I'd be waiting for Zavvi cancellations - surely 200 at the very least !? - which should appear on release day this coming Monday or maybe even tomorrow.
HMV Order - dispatched 7/10 and received 8/10.
AMAZON Order - dispatched 10/10 and received 11/10
MOVIE MAIL Order - dispatched ? (no notification) and received 12/10

Did you get an email or something? I placed my order August 27th. When I go to the site I still see "In Progress" too. I haven't gotten any notification of mine shipping.
I contacted them to cancel my order (because I managed to order one from HMV) and they responded back saying it had already been sent out that day:
Like yours, my status still says 'In Progress', so we shall see if it does turn up.
On another note, I noticed that The Burning is now on Movie Mail's front page as part of their 'Recommended' section and still available to pre-order.
Ordered from HMV when it came back in stock and just before it sold out again. But still no dispatch email.
Ive never seen the film but I like horror films so I bought it as a blind buy because of the cult following, was surprised it sold out so quickly every where.
Wasn't expecting this to come so fast from Zavvi. Surprisingly it's more of a rusty colour in hand. I was expecting it to be more red. Nice steel though 
I ordered when it came back online and arrived on Saturday. From my experience with HMV, if it has not been dispatched then it is unlikely it ever will. Same thing happened to me when The Martian came back in stock. They eventually informed me several weeks later it was not available anymore. Don't get your hopes high now. HMV dispatch very fast and whenever an item doesn't it is OOS or discontinued.

Exactly same when I successfully placed an order and went OOS. You can now either cancel online to get your refund or just hope their maybe cancellations again.
Or just wait several weeks for the email to confirm and they will cancel for you.
Still apparently available from Movie Mail at slightly more (GBP 24.98) than the last Amazon priceJust checked on my order on HMV online and it shows OOS
