Are you well insured?
I know I am. Got everything listed, all pictured and everything is in the Cloud.

OMG, that hurts to see! I got a insurance for fire, water, burglary and whatever but I never documented what I own. I don't own that many premium figures and for my movies and vinyl I don't think it's worth the stress. But now I think about my sneakers. I got like 50 pairs and a lot of them are rare and now super expensive. Maybe I should do them.

Even with invoice?
IN the case of items that appreciate like a lot of limited statues you are alright. if ebay shows as such.

But i remember with BluRayJunkie here he had a basement flood out or storage shed that had a basement i cant recall ... but point was it ruined thousands of movies he owned. insurance was only willing to pay like maybe 30cents on the dollar claiming the movies depreciated. Despite that for many there were no ebay sales cause they were rare items and the value was more then original face value at time of purchase.

Like there may be some statues that a person bought for $400 but we all know would fetch over $1k on ebay any day of the week ... .but if one hadnt been sold in whatever the window is then you SOL.

diff things I've heard over the years.

It can be pretty hard to keep track of movies if a person has like a large amount esp doubles, triples etc. in that you are hoping insurance company believes. I've always heard its wise to do home videos with your voice and face in it showing stuff so there is physical proof you own this stuff. Some insurance companies if you both feel friendly enough you can have come out and see for yourself and often times they can then quote you the insurance plan you should have to cover it. I guess at that point it would add a sense of comfort to the case should something arise I suppose.

That is tragic! That wasn't one of our members was it? Unfortunately insurance companies usually only pay back only a percentage of the cost, so even if he had insurance he won't get the full value back. Plus they only insure the cost of the item and not the accrued value of the item due to rarity or that it's unobtainable due to rarity. It's unfortunate that insurance companies can't replace the items.

@Wreck is 100% spot on, basically no insurance company will pay you full value and virtually no insurance company care what they sell for on the secondary market, only what "YOU" paid. I spent several years as a senior manager for one of the UK's biggest companies Direct Line and have seen cases similar to the above, where collectors have spent thousands, and thinking everything was worth a lot more to be told buy the insurance company, tough luck, you'll get maybe 35 - 40% back on what you spent and thats if you can prove it, and by proof they mean a full sales receipt from a company they "deem" exceptable. You won't be covered through GB's as theres no proof of purchase so to speak and majority of insurance companies aren't interested in or won't accept Paypal print outs. They will do EVERYTHING they have not to pay out.

For those people with very expensive collections of Hot Toys, steelbooks, figurines, rare comic books, high end home cinema equipment, your only real option is specialist insurance which is available, and they will send someone out to view your collection in the flesh and note items, but be warned it doesn't come cheap. You will be looking at the very least, several thousand pounds for it minimum.

So sorry for the late reply. This breaks my heart dude! Cant even imagine. I had an appraiser come out at the request of my insurance agent, so my collection is insured for 50k. I would be able to re-buy everything in the event something like tjat happened, but I don't know if I would. That said, I hate to see this happen.
