We never know how the finishing on this is going to look like. The premium collection weren't pure white at all. I expect this to follow suit.

I hope they wont change the artwork. I wanted the japanese version for a long time but can't afford it.
This one looks awesome, I might get it but I'm going to wait and see if amazon.co.uk has it cheaper and if they have inside artwork.

I seriously think it is time to go back to basics in terms of collecting steel. buy steels where 1) you like the movie), 2) you like the artwork of the steel and 3) Pick a country's release according to your budget, and 4) buy that, be happy you have that in your collection, and forget about all future similar releases of the same title / steel. That's the only viable way left to enjoy this hobby, unless you have money to burn.
The UK is really smart with their re-releases unlike the U.S. Best Buy $10 steelbooks in terms of quality and creativity are the worst steelbooks ever made. I can't imagine the new wave being any better. It's really hard to watch all these massive re-release lists come out. It makes all of your original steels feel less special from a collecting standpoint.
The USA appears to have no clue what they are doing when it comes to steelbooks and are in the stone age compared to the UK.

I totally agree with you.
Going back to basics is the smartest thing to do not just in steelbooks sterms but in every collecting field. Do what you love as long as you're loving it.
These are showing up on sainsburys now. No price yet but this will be interesting to see. Should have the price up soon

Thats what I do now... I think if you are collecting something for any other reason, you have your priorities all in a muddle. If you collect steelbooks seeing re releases and re issues should be something you have come to expect and should be no shock at all.
I'm having this - only have a ropey 2nd hand amaray of this and just a DVD of the first movie so this will do nicely.
Would have loved a triple steel or a triple jumbo steel UK release, but avoided the UK jumbo issued last year as I want all 3 movies in the one.
My ultimate - a UK slim triple steel, like the Godfather or Alien Anthology releases, but can't see it on the cards yet.

I don't think there's anything wrong with collecting things hoping that they are going to be exclusive or limited. With any expensive items I have acquired or imported, personally I like to not go round my mates house within the next 6 months and they have same thing from a re-release at a fraction of the cost, it's nice to have the 'cool where'd you get that from!?' reaction from people you know etc otherwise what's the point, for me I may aswell buy the amaray.
Seems to me alot lately that the buzz of tracking anything worthwhile down is offset by a massive comedown a bit later on from another retailer regurgitating the same artworks.
Can fully see the argument that everyone should be able to own a nice looking steelbook as this but it takes the fun out of it in my opinion. How do you go about trading a high value trade with another collector these days without factoring in now that what you may be trading for is a couple of months away from a new 'premium' release.

Thats true... I mean, SB are suppose to be premium editions, but they are just getting cheaply produced and re-released all of the time... Some will argue that they don't want to pay the premium price for the asian releases, however they have been released 3 times now (JP and KR twice), so if they really wanted them they would have invested in one of those... I for one havn't got the KR or JP releases and might very well get the UK editions because i like the art, however i wasn't bothered about the asian releases and tbh not these either as i already have the FR and UK double pack SB and TDKR hmv SB, the only reason i will get them is due to them being released in my home country, however if FR or DE were to release them, i would not buy them...
I'm not saying that this particular release is bad, or that re-releases are bed at all because they are not, sometimes you genuinly do miss a release, or cant afford it at that time and so a re-release will suit you nicely, however it is just that so much is being re-released now...
Weather they continue to do this sort of thing is up to the studios and i wouldn't be bothered about it, its just they are loosing their chances to create some truely great SB, now that they no that there is £££ involved, they will release anything...
