Agree with all the guys here its just a simple kick in the teeth to collectors.
Isn't Arrow part of Zavvi or did I make that up!?

If MGM or whatever had Arrow's knackers in a vice about a boxset why go ahead and release singles and then do a boxset. They knew this would sell out.

And if you use that logic why not with TMNT and yes its probably a different studio but it still sucks.

But is £35 cheaper too so I would have rather waited and got this edition instead.

No Arrow Films is not part of Zavvi and never has been

Arrow Films was purchased by THG (aka The Hut Group) it was not purchased by Zavvi
This why Arrow Films remains owned by THG

If you not aware Zavvi also is no longer owned by THG since 2023

Zavvi managment bought the company back from THG in 2023 and is known as Zavvigroup Ltd since then
Zavvi website is still though operated by THG Ingenuity e-commerce webstore platform if you was not aware THG Ingenuity run websites for many different retailers and companies examples Zavvi/Nestlé/L'Oréal/Holland & Barrett/Disney Store/Coca-Cola and many more

MGM also had the same restriction with Kino Lorber usa 4K releases they also was not allowed to do a Dollars Trilogy Box Set of the films which is why their 4K releases was only individual editions of the films
The same restriction also applied Eagle Pictures in Italy when they released the individual films in 4K

MGM lifted the restiction for Arrow only recently which is why you now only getting a 4K Trilogy Limited Edition Boxset happen
If MGM had not imposed a restriction you would of got a 4K Trilogy Box set in 2025 same time as the individual editions but that was not possible back then

Arrow was simply not allowed to do the Trilogy Box Set from the start they did want to do this but MGM said no at that time
MGM only just very recently gave arrow the permission to do a Trilogy Box Set
Yea Right GIF

And for only £60 man that really takes the piss!

I think this is more likely to be £90/$100+ if I'm honest

This is wonderful news, I'm extremely pleased with this release and it was an instant pre-order for me. I held up buying the individual releases in hopes of getting a trilogy box set just like this.

I still have the glossy DVD digipacks for this trilogy plus Fistful of Dynamite and Once Upon a Time in the West (in almost mint condition) released by MGM back in 2006. These are waaay better looking than this lazy looking half hearted release from Arrow and are still holding well for their age. The least Arrow could have done was release it as a digipack or steels (as a set). Not sure if these are their thing but I've always said this, for me LE's or CE's should never have amarays as it just cheapens the quality of the whole thing.

I own the collectors editions but I'm not bitter like some of you gatekeepers here.

I don't get what your problem is?

If you would rather have had a boxset, sell your collectors eds. I bet you'll still get your money back and then some. Buy the boxset and some popcorn to go with it. No big deal.

If you're moaning that your investment will go down the pan now, well you're in the wrong hobby. I can think of many disney DVD's that were worth loads once upon a time and now are worth nothing. Unless film companies stop releasing physical media altogether, there will always be another release that trumps yours with more extras or another remaster even in this end format of 4k.

The collectors ed's are still perfect releases in their own right. This is a supplementary release. I'd be damned to be paying £300 on the second market for a set but if I had missed out, this would be great. Be happy for those who want it, not bitter and salty that you now don't exclusively own parts in a special little club.

The sad hill doc isn't really a big deal to be complaining about anyway. Its interesting but its had a bluray release before and its available to watch online.

I'll possibly get this too.
If you're upset because as collectors you don't want to have to buy another set, don't. It really is as simple as that.

I wouldn't be surprised if half of the people who owned these incredible films have never even watched them.
Fomo and complaints like not having exclusivity over a set is what makes getting involved with collecting communities so lame.

Nope. If you mean me your dead wrong pal. Calling people Gatekeepers, salty and bitter and then suggesting that's because because others now get the chance to buy this trilogy is slightly obtuse, dead wrong and pretty rude if you ask me.

On all of my posts on this topic, I never ONCE mentioned being p*ssed off because of investment or financial gain. I don't resell anything and never have. If I sell anything at all it's due to damage or missing out myself. Most of my 300+ (that's small relative to others) collection is completely second hand aftermarket and entirely purchased from eBay. I started collecting again in 2021. In fact I can give you my eBay ID and you can see how transparent my very very few sales are. I even go so far as listing items as cheapest on eBay because I utterly loath scalpers, liars and rip off resellers. I'm also an open collector and watch every single film I buy.

Yet you dive right in on that flimsy excuse of..boo hoo, we're p*ssed off due to perceived loss of investment.
You don't get what the problem is?
Read the comments, it's because of Arrow mate...not anything you're suggesting.
Arrow lying over marketing, reissuing a limited edition (albeit different format) with an exclusive meant for their original set and throwing falsehoods out to ALL collectors, not just people who managed to get the trilogy originally. All of us, whether you bought them a second time or not. They lied. Now selling these for the third time but reverting back to a limited format again. At least I now know they'll do it again. Liars always lie in any walk of life.
That's fairly clear in all my comments.
Perhaps I'm too naive or trusting but I won't buy into the limited or exclusive tags anymore because they invariably turn out false.
Looking at you Warner Bros Lord of the Rings

So no. Not gatekeeping at all.
I'm happy for you. You also realise no one complained at all when the standards were released? That's because collectors WANT other collectors to have the chance to own themselves masterpieces in any format.
If I mentioned money at all it was to compare the New cost to the Original costs of the trilogy and it's now £35 cheaper than original at retail.
Not anything to do at all with what you're suggesting.

Reading others comments I don't think anyone else mentioned those things either @choochoonesme.

And yes. I bought these in the original limited edition sets because they're some of my favourite Westerns and I wanted to own them in a limited format.
Go back and view my comments on almost all other Western steelbook and 4k releases and you'll find me commenting on every single one as I'm a massive western fan.

You've been on this forum three years longer than me and have a small percentage of engagement or posting. I'd argue that most of everyone on here are huge fans of the movies that get released and do watch the things they buy, some won't, I grant you that but I'd expect that they're a small percentage. Especially those who engage in commenting on here.

Unfair comment brother, especially on a forum full of hardcore collectors that are 95% unlikely to ever sell there collection.

Omg my collectors edition is worth approx £20 less on the second hand market. I'm so mad and angry and crying like big man baby. Wahhhhhhh...

How about no choo choo head, or whatever you call yourself. It's called principles. Some people in this world still abide by them and aren't impressed when others do not. Simple as.

I might actually go for this. I did have it in my basket with the code but decided not to because I’m not too huge on the films but I’ve been collecting a lot more arrow recently, it’s a nice set, I’d prefer this to 3 separate releases and just knowing how sour this release has made half of you would make me grin like the f**king Devil everytime I glance at it on my shelf…. :coffee: :naughty:

I ain't fussed tbh. Got the single release special editions which individually are better than the boxset. Happy for those that missed out
