None of Abel Ferrara’s films have quite managed to match the shock, extremity and downright notorious nature of The Driller Killer.

In a career that has encompassed such controversial classics as Ms. 45, Bad Lieutenant and Welcome to New York, none of Abel Ferrara’s films have quite managed to match the shock, extremity and downright notorious nature of The Driller Killer.

Ferrara plays struggling artist Reno, a man pushed to the edge by the economic realities of New York living in the late seventies and the No Wave band practising in the apartment below. His grip on reality soon begins to slip and he takes to stalking the streets with his power tool in search of prey…

it also has some sort of previously unreleased "extended" or pre-theatrical cut of the movie, which should be highly interesting to watch.

Oh absolutely. I'm a big Ferrara fan though, I have the 'Moral Vision' book written by Brad Stevens, very interesting read. Will be good to hear them talk!

i think the cover is too graphic.

i havent seen the film but if other similar films are anything to go by, then im guessing the image on the cover is the most shocking scene in the film ?

if it is, then it lessens the impact of the film

its like putting the sledgehammer scene from Misery on the front cover. ruins the film

You not watched this film before
There is lot more shocking scenes in the film
This film was previously classed as a video nasty and banned in the UK until the ban was lifted years later

After you watch the film in full let me know what's your thoughts on the film that's if you manage to keep it on without powering off-the-TV:rofl:

The extras are the main reason I'm getting this and that's it's a steelbook

This film had a huge outcry in the UK when first released and was why the video recordings act 1984 came into force
The video cover itself is famous for lot of people did not even see the film but called for it to be banned just on the video release image and ads advertising the vhs release in 1982

The image on the steelbook is perfect for this considering the image history

lol i have most of the other arrow steels, i dont know if i could watch driller killer though ha
The film is not what you would consider a highly rated film its average to poor to be honest but it caused a lot of fuss back in 1982 when the vhs was been released and as a result a lot of other films got banned some which deserved to be banned and still are and some later got un banned but this film was tame really in comparison to some of the other films that got banned

The VHS cover is famous and a history maker in the film business

The extras on the Blu-ray give them a watch they are good

These are normally the movies where I prefer a 2016 release on with upgraded pic and sound quality  with exceptions of a few classics of course. Sounds intriguing and would watch more for the curiosity. I would like to wait for a price drop for this blind buy if it doesn't sell out.
