Q) What is the purpose of this thread?
A) To discuss Ebay policies/issues

Q) Where can i find the Ebay Presale Policy?
A) Click HERE

Q) Can a HDN Trade mod help me with an Ebay sale/trade issue? Also why is there no 'ebay bad traders' list?
A) Simply put, no. To find out why, ensure you read the following spoiler:
please use this thread as a RESOURCE to ask your fellow members about problems you've had with a reseller or questions about e-bay.

do NOT use this thread to attack or refute other members. if you an e-bay dispute with a member here, perhaps it's best to approach a trading mod before posting? we don't police e-bay, but maybe we can give you a tip or two.

if members ignore these suggestions, then the thread might be locked for a couple of weeks.

thank you.

hey folks,

as a reminder what myself (and other mods) have continued to mention via private message, e-mail and other areas. we do NOT police other trading marketplaces like ebay, youtube, amazon and the rest.

there is ONLY a certain amount of information at our disposal and we do not have the resources in these other locations as we do on this forum - things that we can look at and evaluate.

having said that, there are trading rules on this forum that have been instituted for your own protection for trading transactions that happen HERE.

this includes the pending / active sales threads, the requirement of feedback posted for any new traders, our support ticketing system, the active investigations held by trading moderators and many other things we do not discuss openly.

we have long held that problems occurring on these other forums and marketplaces should be taken the appropriate authorities on THOSE websites.

many of you are established traders here on this forum and you should know all about the guidelines that are stickied in this section - including having new traders send first, getting tracking from the other party and proof of shipment, and what other precautions can be taken to protect your trading safety.

trading via ebay and their messaging system is against their stated policy and should not occur - and there are reasons why they have created that policy. you don't have protection of paypal or their listing system as a buyer or seller.

having said that, if there is trouble with an ebay seller or buyer, you should go to their website and report it there. if you are not aware of this process, follow the below link for more information.

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/report-trading.html

so folks can feel free to chat about a seller or buyer that they are having problems with, but I can tell you right now - there will not be a "witch hunt" by moderators or staff based on one person's account of the problems or trouble they are having - and we limit the action taken for or against members here to transactions that occurred on this forum.

as stated in the thread title of our bad traders list - that list is for FORUM MEMBERS ONLY.

thank you.
Q) Where can i find the HDN Buyer Beware / Bad Traders list?

Your just a bit too nice, man. I would have made him ship it back, and hope theres no tracking. "What steelbook, it never got delivered here".

Wouldn't make any difference. eBay/PayPal side with the buyer every time and the seller not at all.

Anybody who sells regularly on eBay pretty much resigns themselves to the fact that their faith in human nature is going to take a battering, because there are a lot of lowlifes out there ready to try their luck. You just have to be thick-skinned and factor in the odd chargeback.

That's one of the reasons the regular/business sellers usually have higher prices than most. They have to account for losing a number of steelbooks to fraudsters and scammers. It shouldn't be that way, but that's how it is selling on eBay i.e. totally one-sided :(

So the other day the seller canceled the auction I was bidding on. Today they just put it back up. Looks like they added a few details about the item and added $10 to shipping. I give up with ebay.

I had a bidder request me to cancel there bid as soon I told them how much shipping would cost. I specifically state message me BEFORE BIDDING for shipping cost if its not listed for your location. But okay you bid THEN you ask how much shipping costs and after hearing the cost you dont want it anymore (its obvious). Annoyance but its okay ill cancel the bid as its better then faulty paypal claims later or non-payment. But wait its the excuse used for asking for the bid to be cancelled that pi$$es me off:

"I'm truly sorry but, at this time, I would like to request a bid cancellation on this item. Unfortunately, there was an error in judgement involving a third-party, and in my absence a bid was placed using this account without my authorization. I am the owner of this account and had no personal intentions on bidding for this item. Please excuse my display of negligence with the safe-keeping of my account. Corrective measures have already been taken to ensure this will not happen again. As a buyer/seller, I understand the severity of my cancellation request and it's effect on business which is added cost for you. Please accept my sincere apologies for this indiscretion,

Thank you,

Person X"

^^^ I simply dont buy the excuse and the lying is what makes is effing annoying. Just man up and say sorry shipping is too much and i should have asked before bidding. Needless to say person is now blocked from bidding my stuff.

Is it possible for me as a seller to block the automated ebay invoice going out to the buyer and replace these by doing them myself on ebay? The shipping costs get all screwed up when ebay try to calculate.

I just had a buyer sending me cash because of the automated invoice and it´s like 9 GBP wrong because he won 3 items.

If you only accept Paypal payment - then short answer is no.

You can remove the option to 'pay now' but it doesn't remove the 'pay by paypal' option :( We have this problem in the UK as Ebay limits our postage to £2.25...even though some of us prefer to ONLy use recorded delivery which is £3.15 or £3.65 :/

Why not just absorb the 90 pence extra it costs you to post rather than messing around with invoices and such?

No I don't buy it either. I had practically the same excuse from some other loser who kept me hanging on 5 weeks for payment with continual promises that he would pay up. Finally I initiated a seller case for unpaid goods and a day later I get some lame excuse that his eBay account had been used without his permission by a tenant in the house! :hilarious: strange how he never noticed the 5 week's worth of emails he was getting from his hijacked account...!

Some of these people should never have graduated from playing with toy money. They just can't cope dealing with the real stuff.

Yeah man complete B.S. from some of these bidders on eBay. Just be honest.

snooloui: The problem is that ebay.uk forces me to fill in domestic shipping and like Naughtius Maximus said with 2.25 GBP maximum. First of I can`t ship domestically right, since I am in Sweden. So if a UK buyer wins things get weird. On top of that if he/she wins more then one item he/se gets the domestic cost (2.25) x the item and then it´s real wrong for me. As I wrote for 3 items sold yesterday the shipping cost is of 9 GBP and he has alreday paid. Sucks...

Hooch - as long as in your listing it is clear that the postage for anyone from UK (or whatever) should wait for an invoice before paying - in bigger font/bold so it stands out.

I then email them or msg them through ebay with a standard explanation why i cannot send the item yet until the full postage costs have been paid - then just 'request' the money through paypal...people will pay as long as you're honest and upfront about it.

I have a question. Say you block a bidder on your block list. What happens if they use a secondary account. Would it be blocked automatically. I also wonder if ebay does the right thing and ban them for trying to sneak back into your auctions. I mean I feel I have a right to know who people are using another alias if I have a bad transaction with the said person. It would seem like they are abusing their 2nd alias rights.

They are buyers, so ebay loves them no matter what!! They can screw an honest seller over as often as they see fit, they are still much more important to ebay than any stupid old seller

Not sure if this is allowed here, but "buyer" mt3pc from Korea bought 4 steelbooks from me for a total of $600 and never paid or contacted me. Of course I can't leave him negative feedback or anything, he is a buyer and obviously a real asset to ebay...

Naughtius Maximus = Just received the extra money from the buyer, he was understanding and I offered a discount because he bought 3 items. Gonna write more clear in the listing next time.

You have to report the user, they don't block automatically.

If "user A" changes their name to "user AB" then it will catch that.

However, if user A creates a new account with different info as "user B", e-bay puts the burden of proof on the seller to determine that they are the same.

This does violate e-bays unwanted buyer policy.

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/unwelcome-buying.html

Now having said that, they won't do much - even if you can show if they are using their wife's name and their old address for the other account.

For example.

Every year, I see my personal created images posted for "ebay selling purpose"

The bright side of it - more exposure of my pictures and being mistake as an Ebay Reseller (despite I am NOT)

Does anyone know 'coupon-gta' personally, not just through buying from him on eBay?
All of the items he's selling are steels, so it seems like he's a collector.

I just want to know if what he's saying is moderately close to the truth.

1. Does he donate all the funds to charity? It doesn't state that in the listing and he doesn't say what charity.
2. He states that he has a 'factory' ship out the items. But the packaging is a free fedex box wrapped with packing paper. And the postage is a meter impression/ printed out stamp that you get when you pay at the post office.
