Q) What is the purpose of this thread?
A) To discuss Ebay policies/issues

Q) Where can i find the Ebay Presale Policy?
A) Click HERE

Q) Can a HDN Trade mod help me with an Ebay sale/trade issue? Also why is there no 'ebay bad traders' list?
A) Simply put, no. To find out why, ensure you read the following spoiler:
please use this thread as a RESOURCE to ask your fellow members about problems you've had with a reseller or questions about e-bay.

do NOT use this thread to attack or refute other members. if you an e-bay dispute with a member here, perhaps it's best to approach a trading mod before posting? we don't police e-bay, but maybe we can give you a tip or two.

if members ignore these suggestions, then the thread might be locked for a couple of weeks.

thank you.

hey folks,

as a reminder what myself (and other mods) have continued to mention via private message, e-mail and other areas. we do NOT police other trading marketplaces like ebay, youtube, amazon and the rest.

there is ONLY a certain amount of information at our disposal and we do not have the resources in these other locations as we do on this forum - things that we can look at and evaluate.

having said that, there are trading rules on this forum that have been instituted for your own protection for trading transactions that happen HERE.

this includes the pending / active sales threads, the requirement of feedback posted for any new traders, our support ticketing system, the active investigations held by trading moderators and many other things we do not discuss openly.

we have long held that problems occurring on these other forums and marketplaces should be taken the appropriate authorities on THOSE websites.

many of you are established traders here on this forum and you should know all about the guidelines that are stickied in this section - including having new traders send first, getting tracking from the other party and proof of shipment, and what other precautions can be taken to protect your trading safety.

trading via ebay and their messaging system is against their stated policy and should not occur - and there are reasons why they have created that policy. you don't have protection of paypal or their listing system as a buyer or seller.

having said that, if there is trouble with an ebay seller or buyer, you should go to their website and report it there. if you are not aware of this process, follow the below link for more information.

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/report-trading.html

so folks can feel free to chat about a seller or buyer that they are having problems with, but I can tell you right now - there will not be a "witch hunt" by moderators or staff based on one person's account of the problems or trouble they are having - and we limit the action taken for or against members here to transactions that occurred on this forum.

as stated in the thread title of our bad traders list - that list is for FORUM MEMBERS ONLY.

thank you.
Q) Where can i find the HDN Buyer Beware / Bad Traders list?

I can surely understand the frustration some sellers go through.. on here and there as well.. but to reply like that doesn't do anyone any good, because lets face it. The buyer has most of the power! Which helps scammers, but the vast majority are good buyers. It seems only GB dragon is the one who constantly gets screwed over.

I know, and I actually think the buyer has TOO much power. But I am a reasonable guy, even if I receive a damaged item I am more likely to keep it if the person I am dealing with is reasonable, but right from the start this guy was aggressive and unhelpful. I appreciate the £15 refund, tbh I would've accepted £10 because it's easier than returning them and fannying around for a refund, but he's been reported to ebay because he has no right to talk to someone he doesn't even know in such a way.

True! It seems like I do but that's because may be I'm to honest and they like to take advantage of my feedback, doesn't matter at least I get to report them on here and warn my ninjas and get them on the block list.

Looking for a bit of advice.

I just recently sold a steelbook via auction, the guy who won is from China, he's just messaged me asking if the item is mint and sealed.

Who bids on things and NOT READ the description page? I clearly marked it not mint and supplied pictures of those imperfections.

I suppose my best bet is to offer it to the next highest bidder? I doubt this guy will go ahead and buy it now. Knobhead.

:/

If it was me, I'd just point out that the listing stated it wasn't mint and then if he doesn't pay I'd report him to ebay so at least he gets a strike against his name for being a time waster.

An update on this clown, I messaged him about the damage and this is what he said, verbatim (so don't blame me for the mis-spelled words :p:

"There insured for £50 with first class ill send you the receipt and you can take it up with Royal Mail. Because I sent them in perfect condition. And fair enough there is a slight chance I missed a scratch but loose discs definitely not.
And I certainly don't want damaged goods back as I have no way of knowing your not sending me back ones you have had already.
And my listing states I will not be responsible for damage caused in post"

I mean seriously, are people REALLY stupid enough to think putting "I will not be held responsible for any damaged caused in the post" covers them? The seller is responsible for ensuring the steel arrives with the buyer in the condition it was sold, just like when Amazon or Zavvi sell items to us. And the fact that he blames RM for damage which is obviously not as a result of postal handling shows me how little this guy actually knows about the steels he collects and sells. So I replied back to say that I was opening a case with ebay as I am not going to just accept "Take it up with RM" as an answer to this problem. He then replied with this:

"Send them back. You absolute lying twat. They are going to be your damaged old goods. I just don't want to not deal with your stupid ignorant ass anymore.
Your a lying prick. And leave all the negative feedback you want I don't give a ****. Your the only one out of the 200 steelbooks I sold to give me any trouble.
Your a lying rude twat and I just don't want to have to deal with you anymore. Send them back and I'll refund your money. In fact send all the ones you won back as I don't want a lying prick like you having them"

It honestly baffles me how people on the internet think that they are able to say whatever they want with repercussions. I don't let my friends and family talk to me like that, never mind some punk kid on the internet. The funny thing is, within 10 minutes of receiving that message I then received a message from ebay saying that the he'd offered me a £15 partial refund for the items. I accepted the offer, as that takes the price paid for them down to £40 and even with the damage they're worth at least that much. But that isn't the end of it, He will be getting reported to ebay and I will do all I can to make sure they either ban him from ebay or punish him in some other way. If he would've just accepted responsibility from the start then fair enough, but he was a dick right from the off so now it's my turn to be a dick.

Stories like this just put me off eBay to be honest - I just landed a long sought after steel for a good price, but it has some minor shelf wear and the packaging is somewhat worn, neither of which were highlighted in the description - partly feel I should contact the buyer, but it doesn't seem worth the bother after reading this.

Hope everyone's issues get resolved favourably soon and roll on the HDN steel book auction site;)

It's those bed sheets! They really bring out the beauty in your steels.

But maybe you should consider including a piece of paper with your username in the pictures.

It won't prevent them to use his pictures, thanks to photoshop they can easily change the name on the piece of paper

The seller changed the photos after contacting him/ His reply to me "Oh jesus, does it really matter so much that it keeps be awake at night". Nice attitude. The seller doesn't seem to realize how lazy he is and the unknown risks involved with using images of someone else.:(

I think these pre orders should be banned from ebay. I see welee doing it all the time as well as another person in California. If they dont stop doing it I am just going to undercut them out of business and flood the market. I can do that as I have over 3700 steels in stock right now with about 500 on pre order.

You have 3700 steelbooks? Wtf?

That's scam for sure. Why would you sell something valued in $700 for $200. Besides whoever buys now won't be able to claim a refund via PayPal as it won't be covered anymore. There is no lambs on eBay only Lions. Step away!
