Q) What is the purpose of this thread?
A) To discuss Ebay policies/issues

Q) Where can i find the Ebay Presale Policy?
A) Click HERE

Q) Can a HDN Trade mod help me with an Ebay sale/trade issue? Also why is there no 'ebay bad traders' list?
A) Simply put, no. To find out why, ensure you read the following spoiler:
please use this thread as a RESOURCE to ask your fellow members about problems you've had with a reseller or questions about e-bay.

do NOT use this thread to attack or refute other members. if you an e-bay dispute with a member here, perhaps it's best to approach a trading mod before posting? we don't police e-bay, but maybe we can give you a tip or two.

if members ignore these suggestions, then the thread might be locked for a couple of weeks.

thank you.

hey folks,

as a reminder what myself (and other mods) have continued to mention via private message, e-mail and other areas. we do NOT police other trading marketplaces like ebay, youtube, amazon and the rest.

there is ONLY a certain amount of information at our disposal and we do not have the resources in these other locations as we do on this forum - things that we can look at and evaluate.

having said that, there are trading rules on this forum that have been instituted for your own protection for trading transactions that happen HERE.

this includes the pending / active sales threads, the requirement of feedback posted for any new traders, our support ticketing system, the active investigations held by trading moderators and many other things we do not discuss openly.

we have long held that problems occurring on these other forums and marketplaces should be taken the appropriate authorities on THOSE websites.

many of you are established traders here on this forum and you should know all about the guidelines that are stickied in this section - including having new traders send first, getting tracking from the other party and proof of shipment, and what other precautions can be taken to protect your trading safety.

trading via ebay and their messaging system is against their stated policy and should not occur - and there are reasons why they have created that policy. you don't have protection of paypal or their listing system as a buyer or seller.

having said that, if there is trouble with an ebay seller or buyer, you should go to their website and report it there. if you are not aware of this process, follow the below link for more information.

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/buy/report-trading.html

so folks can feel free to chat about a seller or buyer that they are having problems with, but I can tell you right now - there will not be a "witch hunt" by moderators or staff based on one person's account of the problems or trouble they are having - and we limit the action taken for or against members here to transactions that occurred on this forum.

as stated in the thread title of our bad traders list - that list is for FORUM MEMBERS ONLY.

thank you.
Q) Where can i find the HDN Buyer Beware / Bad Traders list?
A) You can find the thread HERE

But it won't be in the same condition as i sent it as he's opened it, seems very weird to me.

He's using the word 'faulty', rather than 'not as described' so we'll see.

Please update the result it will be interesting to know the outcome even though we are talking about eBay/PayPal so I can pretty much guess who wins.

Name and shame please so I can update my block list.

Gals/Guys,

I sold a steelbook on ebay which arrived at the buyers place yesterday - he has shown me various dents on the steel that was hidden by the jcard after he'd opened it.

He asked to return the item for a full refund.

I responded by apologising for the dents but i cannot be responsible for this (he is a collector so should know the risks) but I still offered a £10 refund as a good gesture as i cannot refund an item he has opened.

He replied: "Your offer is unacceptable to me because the item is seriously damaged (and not due to the packing, which is impeccable), whereas you told me it was in mint condition.
F
In the description you say that faulty items can be returned to you.

If we cannot reach an agreement, then it is better to let eBay decide by opening a case."

I've repeated that I cannot offer a refund even if might appear faulty to him as the 'faults' were hidden from view. I'm not too worried about this going to ebay to decide but i like anyone, I still have an inkling I may lose this case :/

Hey David.
What you should ideally do is have a disclaimer on your ad, this will basically help you in future.

I sold something on ebay just a few weeks ago, it wasn't a steelbook, however the buyer rang me saying that the item he bought was faulty and I had described it as faulty in my listing, guess what he did?
He left negative feedback so I was fuming. I rang ebay and told them and I asked them whether they were to able to remove the feedback and the representative came back within 2-3 mins and said yes as the feedback had been left was unfair!
So I had the last laugh!!!

Sold an Item on Ebay but the Buyer doesn`t want to Pay the shipping Fees as described in my Auction-well,have to open a Case on Ebay for a non paid Item:angry:-i hate those People trying to renegotiate the Fees-so be aware of Buyer greenislandje

I hate to say it but i would let him return it for a refund if he sends it back to you i am 99% sure ebay will side with him and give you a refund.
He may even ruin your feedback score us well.

I'm not bothered by my feedback score, I've learnt not to take that score to heart so i'll update once I know more :)

You shouldn't let negative feedback threaten you. One negative feedback out of hundreds of positives isnt really going to harm your status. I've purchased from sellers with negative feedback before, no problem. Take it like a grain of salt - you can't please everyone and you shouldn't!

I just received this message on ebay for the Lion King TW Steelbook and thought il share::thumbs:

Dear ************

" I am doing a fundraising event for Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Cancer Research, as a friend of mine has got incurable cancer and has a little girl. The Doctors say she is going to die soon and I want to make a difference to another family like her and both charities have helped her a lot.
Please kindly donate this item for a tombola or raffle and I will be sure to mention you on the flyer. Or maybe if you don’t want to donate it could you perhaps drop the price a bit so i can buy it for a fundraiser prize? "
Many thanks

So I replied this is a collectors item and not really suitable for a child however I am happy to donate a UK amaray version...

Waiting for the reply.:naughty:

I really hope this person is serious otherwise i have no words to explain an excuse like that.

This guy has really P'd me off!
http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/videoalex.1

I sold an item to him, and he received it yesterday. He then sent me 5 messages all in German within the space of 2 hours. I couldn't reply to any of these, because I was at work and strangely enough, I can't read German. So I got home and asked him if he could send the message In English as Googe translate wasn't really making any sense of what he had to say, and it turns out that he thinks I sent an item and forgot to include the free gift. So I went to work this morning and thought I'd look into this fully when I got home today as I didn't have time to do so yesterday, but when I loaded up eBay he's already left negative feedback and opened up a case.

This has really annoyed me, any reasonable person would allow the seller at least 24 hours to look into the situation before jumping straight in with bad feedback. Paypal are now holding £62 of my money, which I needed to pay for an item on won on eBay, and to top it off the guy I am dealing with is now ignoring my replies in the case that he opened. So he expected me to rectify the problem within 1 hour, yet it's Ok for him to not reply to a message I sent him 8 hours ago. eBay buyers suck, and the level of protection eBay affords them totally unbalances the buyer/seller protection.

he lacks bag will not ship with

you didn't say there was a bag with it

Looks like he likes giving -ive feedback

It was my mistake, I missed the bag out and I apologised and will be posting it tomorrow. But it's thes the fact that he didn't even allow me to try to resolve the issue before jumping straight into a dispute and leaving negative feedback that annoys me. People make mistakes, but only a complete ass would do what he did without allowing the seller to resolve the issue.

You're right though, looking at his feedback left for others this guy is a total douche. He leaves bad feedback for issues before letting the seller resolve them quite often by the looks of it. I shall be blocking him from ever buying from me again, that is for certain.

"eBay Customer Support made a final decision and asked the buyer to return the item to you for a full refund."

Right, thats it for me, I'm tired of Ebay. Once I've sold up my stuff I'm closing my account.
