Ultimately the ones without inside art will still sell out.

Even if it's HMVs decision to not have inside art to save a few pennies it's not really a deciding factor for most people. I'm not saying I agree with the decision, but it's understandable.

Hmmmm.......I wonder why Play.com has very few Steelbooks with no interior artwork, but look at HMV's track record. Sounds like they go the cheapest route every time.

To be fair, it's only in the last year that Play have gone to the effort of trying to improve their exclusive steelbooks. Before then they were selling steelbooks with no interior art and printed info all over them. Not to forget that the recent Buena Vista wave from Play also had no interior art.

As far as I can remember, HMV haven't had all that many exclusive steelbooks without interior art this year either... the only ones that spring to my mind are The Hunger Games and Drive, and Drive is one of the most collected/sought after steelbooks (check the Collection Manager if you don't believe me).

I'm not at all saying Play aren't the better retailer for steelbook exclusives though. I'm just saying people shouldn't be so harsh on HMV all the time... they've given us some of the best exclusive steelbooks ever IMO.

Point is... the overall design of a steelbook is down to the film distributor (as amen also pointed out).

Back on topic - There seems to be quite a few choices when it comes to steelbooks for this film, so it's good to know people have an alternative if they're not liking this one. :)

I wish I had cancelled this now. £17 is just too much for a plain release like this. For once I hope it arrives damaged and then I can watch it and send it back for a refund :hilarious:

knowing how stallone works he will probably release a directors cut in a few months (like he did with rambo & the first expendables) and we'll get the embossed steel then...

I was wondering that also, but with Rambo and The Expendables remember they were directed by Stallone whereas Expendables 2 was directed by Simon West.

Also with Rambo and Expendables a directors cut was announced pretty much straight away

Lionsgate screws us again just like Expendables by dropping these 2 special features.

Big Guns, Bigger Heroes: The 1980's and the Rise of the Action Film (HD 24:59) is a surprisingly good featurette detailing some of the iconic film heroes of the eighties.

Guns for Hire: the Real Life Expendables (HD; 24:19) focuses on various mercenaries and security personnel who are paid to do some kind of dirty work.

So they're not on this release? Which one are they on?

Well, colour me surprised. Yet again HMV/TNT actually managed to get me something on the day of release.

After waiting forever for Avengers Assemble, Wrath of the Titans and The Amazing Spider-Man, both The Dark Knight Rises and The Expendables 2 arrived on the Monday of release.
