I got round to watching this a few weeks ago, a fun film provided you take it for what it is (a fantasy action/adventure/comedy film) I get the feeling most of the critics that gave it poor reviews expected it to be a serious film.
Does it happen to have a barcode? If so, what's the number underneath it? We could probably find out some more details that way.
FYI: 64bit Windows can run 32bit programs just fine, it's likely just that you happen to be trying to run ancient versions of them that have other compatibility issues.
You could try actually running the programs you wanted in compatibility mode though, that may work for some of them.
PS. I feel sorry for you having to use Windows 8.1, MS mucked up so badly with 8/8.1... hopefully they'll manage to put some of it right with whatever they come up with next. Definitely sticking with 7 until they do.
Hello,
I'll have to search out the box it is in tomorrow. Though I still remember the same thing hapening with a John Martyn album way back when - three distinct versions - one catalogue number! Hope it's not like that though.
Sadly some of the progs do have to run on XP and 32 bit. My Works Suite is 32 bit, and all but the very last of the Paradox games I work on are exclusively 32 bit (some of those are even weird about the version of flash you use); Vadis in particular was designed around the XP platform (joint effort between Volvo and HP) and won't entertain anything else, without even going into the change from 32 to 64 bit.
As regards 'compatability mode' I tried several old progs some time back and they never worked properly for me - always some sort of glitch - locking up or whatever at some point - even some progs designed to work with XP, Vista and 7 often refuse to work properly with either of the later platforms.
All I can say for 8.1 is if you have a Toshiba like this one, then they have their own home screen which does its best to give you something workable with a taskbar etc. in the xp/7 mode - it's still far from perfect but used in conjunction with Firefox it's a vast improvement - just don't ask how you do simple tasks like use 'print screen' - and the sheer horror of trying to get a windows 8.1 machine into safe mode is beyond the joke!
Frankly though, if Microsoft were working with the customers interests in mind as opposed to making themselves a fortune, then they would have developed XP to the point of making it bombproof - SP9 now if you cut out all the dross inbetween.
Then again, if Microsoft were serious about safety and usability System 32 (for instance) wouldn't be accessible and open to abuse/deletion and virus attack as it is in all versions of windows.
Finally located Adele. It's still sealed like so many of my steels. It appears to have exactly the same number below the barcode as the one illustrated in the thread. That said, there aren't any raised edges around what would be the sticker, so unless they started lacquering the late stickerbooks, I figure it must be printed on.
