'The Flash' Script Expected By Christmas, Bradley Cooper Rumored For Scarlet Speedster
Compared to the publicly active Marvel Studios, DC Entertainment has moved in mysterious ways when it comes to its upcoming film slate -- until recently, that is. Between Christopher Nolan officially announcing himself as the "Batman 3" director and Zack Snyder signing on to helm "Superman," not to mention next summer's "Green Lantern," it appears that the DC movie universe is kicking into high gear.
The forward momentum is far from over, as Deadline reports that "Green Lantern" screenwriters Marc Guggenheim, Michael Green and Greg Berlanti are expected to turn in their latest draft of "The Flash" between Thanksgiving and Christmas of this year. The script for "Green Lantern 2" is expected around that time as well.
Although a director has not yet been selected for the project, Deadline reports that Berlanti, an oft-rumored candidate for the gig, isn't likely to get behind the camera for "The Flash."
"He won't want to direct it because he kinda wants to do something in between size-wise first before attempting something that large," an alleged inside source tells Deadline. "If Warner Bros does like the script and wants him to direct it... But that's a lot of ifs. And all of it is moot if they don't dig the script. 'Green Lantern' wasn't real until the studio liked the draft."
In related "Flash" news, Moviehole reports the rumor that Bradley Cooper is considered "the favorite to wiggle his way" into the role of the Scarlet Speedster. Cooper, of course, was mentioned as one of the final three candidates to play Hal Jordan in "Green Lantern" alongside Justin Timberlake and eventual winner Ryan Reynolds.
