Last year Best Buy had a non jumbo of The Hobbit, so definitely want a slim version of this.

It should be a standard case rather than a jumbo. The steelbook for "An Unexpected Journey" from Best Buy last year was standard size and only included 3 discs, which is also what is pictured for this release. I think the movie disc was supposed to include both 3D and 2D, but it didn't work on my blu-ray player. So I went ahead and got the 5 disc jumbo version from the UK as well, which included 2 discs for 3D, one disc for 2D, and 2 discs for appendices. For "The Desolation of Smaug," I will get this one as well as the Canadian 5 disc jumbo. Not only does this version include the 2D, it looks like it does NOT include 3D.

Agreed. The first (both versions) was enjoyable enough, though rather long. But this was outstanding. I look forward to the extended version. May get this purely for the back plate, which will replace the back plate on my incoming FS edition.

Looks like a regular size steelbook case to me. I also like that it's 2D and the Extended Editions! I wish they'd do all that for each of the Hobbit films as well as the LOTR films. 2D, extended, and slim case (I could live with jumbo if it was the whole trilogy)
