But if you not Intrested in a product for what ever reason then why push your opinions on people who are general positive about it? That's what I don't understand,
Why upset people with negative comments people who participate In forums generally want to discuss there enthusiasm for the product not have the negative comments pushed under there noses
Just because I don't like something I'm then not going to go somewhere that people want to talk about it because they are generally excited about that is just a little selfish to be honest and bursting peoples bubble!

Well it's equally selfish to view your 'positive' opinions in higher regard than their 'negative' ones. Some people genuinely get disappointed when their favourite titles are either overpriced, not up to par, or both... and this is all very subjective, so opinions will always differ to everyone's taste an d everyone should be able to express how they feel.

If you want your perfect utopia, then add everyone who posts anything negative to your ignore list - as simple as that. You don't need to quote their posts and attack them (again, assuming they weren't overly harsh, then there's the report button for that).

There is nothing wrong with a negative opinion if it is justified. A lot of the time we see negative comments just because it is by a certain retailer, studio etc. Sometimes it is justified but often it is just repeating the same stuff over and over. If you don't like these Disney releases, then just avoid the threads rather than posting the same predictable stuff in every thread.

Because at the end of the day, this is a discussion forum, and all views and opinions are valid. While the "if you don't like it, don't buy it, but stop complaining" argument is more common, it is no less silly that responding with "if you like it, just buy it and stop going on about how awesome it is."

Within the bounds of civility, members who have an issue with a steelbook, retailer etc. should be able to make such comments in the appropriate threads, just as members may also share their praise and excitement.

Now on the whole, I think Zoneism has best explained things in a succinct manner, and perhaps there is a problem with roundabout opinions on the boards these days. Calling out posts you don't like isn't really going to solve anything however. If anything it just fuels the fire for both sides.

It's like Groundhog Day in every Disney thread, 'oh god it's gonna be matte, it's gonna be embossed with a border, too many releases, vivas are better'.

Yes these comments may be valid and not against forum rules, doesn't stop them being dull.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but lots of comments on the boards can be pretty dull. Does every thread need pages and pages of 'ordered!'? If every thread could only be filled with transactional or insightful or interesting posts, we'd quickly end up with a much smaller community.

Some people really do try to put a lot of through into each and every one of their posts, and that's great, truly, but there are also loads of people who just want to say they've ordered something, that something's been dispatched, question whether Zavvi has sold out for the umpteenth time, or just generally make short statements that don't add to any kind of discussion. Sure, it can get tedious when you've seen it all before, but it's also easy to ignore if you so choose.

And what makes it justified?

I'm not sure why you have spent 15 minutes quoting random posts of mine.

Anyway I will attempt a response. I believe the opinions you posted are justified because they are based on facts. I can say that Disney are ruining their new releases with title-less designs and poor finishes because I haven't liked any of their new releases since Iron Man 3. I can say that a thread is pointless if it provides feedback that has already been given multiple times and mostly ignored. I can say Point Break is worth only £5.99 because I am able to hold it in my hand and make a judgement. I can say that The Wrestler has terrible artwork because I can see the mockups provided by the retailer. I can say Play.com were originally awkward for returns because I had to make use of their returns policy. I can say that a thread is pointless if it contains no useful information.

What I can't say is that this will be rubbish. I can't make a judgement on the title, the artwork or the finish because none of that information is available to me. When the title is revealed, I can make a judgement on what is posted. When the actual pictures are posted or I am holding it in my hands, I can make a judgement on the quality of the Steelbook.

fyi, gloss

Put that in your pipe, naysayers!

one thing we could do without is the repeated stock level reports every 5 minutes

[Snip]

For the record, it only took about 2 minutes :p

Point was, whatever you think is justified differs than what someone else will believe is justified and that's it.

Anyway, everyone got their points across and we should be celebrating that we now have some freaking gloss. Something that I don't think would have happened if people were only allowed to post positive feedback ;)

All the feedback Zavvi need is these consistently selling out within a week. Maybe they're adding gloss out of the goodness of their heart.

Back to the standard of Aladin yay!

To tell you the truth, I don't think any of these releases could ever touch the standard of the Aladdin Steelbook! I think that because of it being the first one in a series a lot of thought & effort went into it. Still one of my all time fav steelbooks!!

Went with a random pick, and #20 it is! Curious as to what Disney movie I just preordered.

Then again that's half the fun!
