My personally theory is that digibook's are more popular and Hungers Games is a popular franchise so this release was changed to digibook from digipak after being digipak for over 1 year.

It doesn't add up to me... :dunno:

As you might be able to tell it matter's quite a bit to wether or not this and other's like it is considered a digipak or a digibook. :hilarious:

Personally, I don't believe in conspiracies, but I can tell you this thread could not be found in the digipack section when I searched for it due to a typo.

A member of the Pt 2. group buy asked me what Pt 1 looked like and I couldn't find it.

So since there was some discussion that Pt 2 was still classified a digibook, I went with that, renamed it, then moved the thread.

Simples. ;)

But it obviously matters to a couple of you quite a bit - and after chatting with Martin at length about this (he's the long standing expert in this section) I've moved it back to the digipack section and renamed the thread.

Catching Fire is the same thing, so it's listed as a digipack now too. We need to be consistent.

But I think we would all agree that other special editions don't have this fuzzy distinction.

We can tell that a steelbook is a steelbook from it's design. Same from a metalpak or futurepak. We also knew what a viva metal box looked like.

But since everybody & their brother can create their own variation of a mediabook, a digibook or a digipack - as I linked in my earlier post - there are a lot of "in between" packages, so this forum and it's members should come up with a definition and distinction that you all agree upon.

I haven't seen anyone post a manufacturer link about the "definitive" digibook or digipack maker -so that's something we should be doing, to say what these things are.

I think a thread showing the difference between the two, with actual examples, links and description would help IMMENSELY.

Maybe this is something you would be interested in helping with dirtyoak.

^^^ Quite passionate about digipak's are we dirty?! :p

I have to wholeheartedly agree and say that this is without a doubt a Digipak and not a Digibook. In-fact I dont even think the release for Catching Fire at Target is a Digibook, that too is a Digipak. If it doesn't have actual pages in it, its not a digibook.

My two cents on the matter....

Hehe, I certainly am. Bugs me when there's so few digipak's that some of them are wrongly cathergorized as digibook's.
One of my pet peeves I guess. :hilarious:

That clears that up. Although I must say I still find it a little weird to just change it to a digibook without the 2 editions actually being similar but like I wrote above it's a pet peeve of mine. :p

From the pictures that are available at this time it doesn't look like they're the same. And to me and Sigil who made the "What is a Digibook/ Mediabook/ Digipack thread?" it looks like it's a digibook like the US Star Wars collection, US Indiana Jones and so on.

Yes, we don't have this problem with other special editions and I believe that the thread that's been mad will help us all see the distionctions between digibook's and digipak's.

I'd be more than happy to help out but after looking at Sigil's thread there's not much more to do other than what I already wrote there.
But please let me know if my "expertize" is needed. :hilarious:

I think it would be good to put together the list like you did earlier in the thread with links and other items - the more examples of these items and "why", the less questions pop up in general.

And who knows, maybe some other folks would like to weigh in with that thread as well as things move along.

Mockups are mockups - no telling what it will REALLY be until it's in hand for pt 2 - but for now the safest play is a digipack, since that's what pt 1 is.

Considering I've been ordering digibooks for the last few group buys, all of Target's mockup for the last 6+ I've bought have said something about a book in the description. (Disney - storybook, WB with the Dark Knight Rises & Man of Steel had no question about a book, Despicable Me 2, etc)...

We can always move it again if we need to! :hilarious:
