Tell me are all the unhappy camp with this steelbook more about matching spines so they look in sync on the shelf, or what ever the reason is....I collect steels But it has to be about the film first, personally I enjoyed the first one, so will be buying this, purely because its a prequel/sequel, it would be like buying T-1 and not the other 3/4/5/6/7 so I am afraid we have no choice in the matter about how a steelbook will or does look, its a take it or leave it thing, BUT I am interested why some get so wound up with Anger about how a steel looks, does this really make some one that mad/angry.....but here's the thing, the new Terminator-1 steel that's coming eeerrrrr criky forgotten now its in the GB.... I will not buy it because I don't like the cover, plus no one knows for sure if it is emboss/deboss or what ever, so looking at the cover now which looks flat and plain, I can not justify the cost, BUT I own it anyway but a different edition, my point is if there is a choice that is great, but here there is not..[at the moment] so we have to lump it really, unless there is an alternative, If I was a Avid collector like some, and can say I WILL NOT BUY THIS ITS SH.. I don't have the choice because I want the Film and steelbook because it goes with the first one. Anyways does not really matter really you takes your choice and pays your money....But still interesting on how some get very uptight....I am not knocking it either, before some one jumps on me....
I understand wanting to add it to the collection since you have the first. But I wouldn't sweat it. You can wait out another edition coming down the pike at some point. It isn't like this one will sell out, become unavailable anytime soon. In other words - if you need this in your collection, waiting on another version is a fairly safe bet.

Actually thinking about it and looking at the cover, I suspect the thinking was a little bit about THOR, in the hope it will sell well, after all it has already got some on here saying exactly that.......

Don't quote me on it...but my crystal ball sees this Zavvi edition for £7.99- £9.99 down the road.

  • Locations
    United Kingdom
  • Formats
    Blu-Ray

Regarding the title on the spine: ball is up in the air at the time of writing with all mockups for the U.K. steel pointing to another No Spine Title situation - to join the others listed elsewhere - although the German edition does appear to have a title albeit a different English title to ours :-

P.S. Possible lack of title on the spine is unsatisfactory for EVERYBODY and I've not met ANYBODY in favour of this behavior and, if it's true, we now have Universal Pictures joining Disney/Marvel/Studio Canal/Fox in this practice.

This is nothing new for Universal, they were one of (if not) the first to do this crap.

Though I am pretty sure the dirty Mouse beat them to it.

Now up at CDON for our Scandinavian cousins:--
http://cdon.se/film/the_huntsman_winter's_war_-_limited_steelbook_(blu-ray)_(cdon_exclusive)-37355153
Equates to GBP 27.16 + P&P there at the time of writing . . .

Sadly the spine looks to be as empty as THE MARTIAN spine with neither title not thumbnail(s) . . . will not stop it selling out but will slow it down.

Looking at Scanavo's internal and external images for this steelbook I'd say the designers did a great job balancing the artwork  and hopefully the disc will have some fine artwork too.

RELEASE DATE - 15TH AUGUST 2016

Final word is a wish that a Collector's Edition as for the first film will be released which includes the steelbook itself plus other goodies including a book, film stills etc.

Won't touch this with a barge poll without a spine title

Film looks awful anyway. 1st film was great and a decent Steelbook, I'll just stick to that

Anyway why do they make the front look like a Thor film? Oh that's right to cash in on idiots who don't have a clue

I've got that big boxset for the first film, it's lovely set, be nice if they did it again for this film

A number of good images around from the official posters and even though the image chosen for the front is not my favourite it's still a lot better than the mock up with CH looking down instead of looking forward
No--------------------------------------Yes

My choice for the outside would have been these two mainly to allow for the full-size image of our Charlize on the back (keeping the balance size-wise):-

Both original posters created by LA:-
"LA is a creative agency made up of 80 award-winning artists, illustrators, editors, matte painters, photographers, motion graphics designers, copywriters, VR gurus, producers, and account executives.
Our work is as bold and diverse as the city we call home.
We were recently the most recognized agency at the 2016 Golden Trailer Awards,
receiving 32 nominations and 9 wins for theatrical, television, and gaming advertising."

I do, however, see why the "big head" artwork for the outside was chosen and I think it will look great in the flesh - all glossy and gold . . . although it goes without saying that the real collector will be mightily put off and disappointed by the lack of a spine title and with the title only being on the j-card (n)
