My New Zealand JBHIFI has a ton of these still for sale. Nobody is buying it, even at the low price. In fact, the salesman there said no one is buying any hard copies of anything. DVD’s still sell okay, but Blu-ray and 4K he reckons are a dead duck.

If that's Australian currency that is very inexpensive for a Disney 4K steelbook.
I believe it's AUD, which is like less than $20 USD for 4k.

That's so weird to me. I would think it would be Blu-ray standing strong, with DVD being passed up and 4k not being adopted yet. But I don't know how the technological take up is for you Kiwis.

@dfoles

DVD’s are dirt cheap here. Kiwis are lapping up streaming options. Netflix is huge. 4K Blu Ray, like 3D, has a small but loyal consumer market, but generally punters go the cheapest option. Which makes Netflix a no brainer. Our dollar is woeful at the moment and the cost of living is increasing under our socialist government, so belts are being tightened big time by middle income earners.

Since I've got you, are there any other retailers in NZ for steelbooks? I assumed JB Hi-Fi was Australia only, didn't realize they have some in NZ. I also know you can get some at EBGames.

Only one doing Steelbook exclusives now is JBHIFI. Our number one online retailer Mighty Ape sometimes has the odd one, but the simple fact is no one cares here. Collectors are few and far between. Gaming steelbooks are much more sought after.

Thanks for that info. I’m trying to compile a list of retailers around the world that carry Steelbooks. I barely had anything for New Zealand (and Australia). I’ve never heard of Mighty Ape before you mentioned it.
