Just got my lenti today. It's pretty solid in hand, with good depth that extends into the background nicely. The reason it looks so unsaturated in so many photos (other than still being covered in cellophane) is due to the lack of color used on the animals in the foreground. I think they gave most of them a strong greenish hue to ensure your eye is still drawn to the center of the image, but I wouldn't have minded if they had taken it a bit easier on the color grading. The back doesn't have any embossing, but is glossy and still feels high(er) quality.

The steelbook itself is gorgeous. The embossed title looks fantastic in gold lettering and the gloss is very thick this time around, without any metal sheen showing through the paint (as with select parts of their CA:CW steel). The back of the steel is flat, but also glossy and sharp looking in hand. I've had pretty good luck with Blufans releases (only 1 in 10 or so have arrived damaged), but it looks like my luck ran out with this one. There's maybe 8-10 small chips here and there and a couple of small dimples in the steel. Still, it's a handsome steelbook, but I think I'll seek a replacement. It seems a waste to have such a good looking steel be marred by so many imperfections.

Oh, and the title on the booklet is done in gold foil. It's a nice touch, and the booklet itself is well done all-round with crisp and colorful stills.

The nova lenti looks the same with that greenish hue but it's the same as the standard poster anyway

Sorry to hear about the chips

So far my blufans steels have been fine with just some odd marks to the slips and a slightly wonky lenti on one but my civil war steel has a annoying scratch/ chip which I'm still hoping blufans replace!
If it's bad then I would see if you can do anything about it.

I really hope these aren't like kimchi's it follows quality

I've heard horror stories about the Kimchidvd It Follows release...which is such a shame because that's my favorite horror movie of all time.

Blufans really nailed it with The Jungle Book. It's exquisite and I can't wait until it is mine.

It's a shame Kimchi's It Follows has become synonymous with a botched release. Breaks my heart every time I see it mentioned. :giggle::rofl:

As for The Jungle Book, I'd guess I just had a bit of bad luck with this release. I know they have a reputation for poor quality control, but this is "only" the second steel I've requested a replacement for out of 18 Blufans titles. That's a much better record than I've had with several other retailers. It's a shame these damaged steels slip through so often--especially from premium retailers and their premium prices.

I recently snagged Spinal Tap from Zavvi for less than five quid shipped to the States. It's so clean I could use it as a shaving mirror. :pompus:

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a bit better quality control when paying literally 10 times as much for a premium release.

Hello everyone!
I'm Nick, and I'm totally new here, and I would need to ask you some questions, if I may.

I would like to buy this steelbook, but can you tell me if it is still available? I tried to go to the web site, but it's all in japanaese -I think- and I can't undersant anything.

Plus, I would like to know what is a group buy. Sorry but i'm not enlish and I couldn't understand how to buy this steelbook through the group buy as I didn't understand what it was and how it worked...
Thanks in advance for ur help!

Hiya mate welcome to the forum.

At the top of the post, you'll see a link that says group buy. What that basically is, is a service this forum allows where people can purchase steelbooks through this site. It is by this means that most people will have acquired this steelbook. Right now, the group buy for this product in particular is closed but from now on, follow the threads for the steelbooks you're interested in, and you should be able to cop. A group buy will be open, you request a specific version in that thread and then later on, a member will message you with the information for you to send payment. Other members sell steelbooks on this forum and that can be found here. You can also post a 'want to buy' if you can't find a specific steelbook for sale. Alternatively you can check ebay though you would expect to pay more there than from this site due to our great community values ;).

I hope this helps though if not, feel free to PM me using the envelope symbol at the top.

just received my lenticular copy today. opened it up right away.

this immediately one of the best lenticulars and one of the best steelbooks in my entire collection. :woot:

i would say both are absolutely faultless. lenti is a crystal clear image with loads of depth. looks at least 10 layers deep with no blurriness the deeper you go. steelbook is perfection too and the gold embossed title is, well, solid gold.

anyone hating on this release is just pure bonkers.o_O

Hey Nick, welcome to the forums. Send a private message to @cooey just in case he has some cancellation from the GB, you never know. Good luck.
