I pre-ordered this as soon as it went up but have since switched credit/debit cards. I wonder what type of pain it'll be to get Zavvi to change it. Anyone have any experience with that?

I would go to My Account, then Orders, and select Query. Send them a message detailing what has happened, and they will direct you further to change your payment method before your card gets charged.

Sounds great, thank you! I def. don't want to miss this as its my favorite film I've seen so far this year and the steel is beautiful.

Nice looking steelbook but I do have trouble accepting Ryan Gosling as a 'tough guy' or 'hard' in any way...regardless of stupid tattoos, stern jaw clenching and embarrassing scowly looks.
He's just too 'girly' looking and pretty. He should stick to his rom-coms!
EEK!

What what what? I don't think he's supposed to be the tough guy, he's supposed to be an outsider, someone who doesn't fit into society. A lone wolf without a herd. He is a fantastic actor wo plays his dramatic roles extraordinary. Being it Drive or The Place Beyond the Pines.

I think I read most of the audience booed and walked out of the screening of 'Only God Forgives' at Cannes this year it was so bad?
People booing Only God Forgives is people who don't like the violence, who don't understand it or who expected a Drive 2.

I personally love OGF. :scat:

ah ok...I guess they must be part of the 'silent majority'?
Personally I have a hard time accepting Ryan Gosling as some king of 'hard nut'...regardless of the fake tattoos and jaw clenching...I just don't picture the pretty boy in this kind of role.
And I'm not a fan of Nicolas Winding Refn's **** eroticism and extreme violence.

Fair enough- maybe I have seen him in too many kids and romantic comedy type films...now he's doing more darker roles I just find it a bit weird.

I'm not saying you can't dislike the movie, of course you can, it's not a movie for everybody at all. But straight up booing the movie is kind of pathetic tbh.

i'm gonna cancel my order and will wait till pictures show up as i really want to know if this release will have inside artwork ...

With or without, doesn't matter to me

If it's without, then i'll make my own including the spine.... no biggie...

Can't wait for this release... terrific movie! And a beautiful end....

Nail on head. We've gone from Charles Bronson to this. Sign of the times I guess.

I don't mean to boo the actual movie- in fact I'm going to order this and give it another look. I'm not a big fan of Ryan Gosling in these type of roles tho- I didn't like him in 'Drive' either, but still enjoyed some aspects of the film...just my 2 cents...

Yeah I wasn't talking about you, but more the people at Cannes. ;)

But yeah about that Only God Forgives. Give it a shot but it be sure to know that this isn't a regular mainstream movie. This is a movie which relies very little on the actual story and more on the amazing cinematography, metaphors and symbols etc.
So if you don't like those type of movies, then you will probably disklike this a lot. :p

But I'm sure you'll enjoy The Place Beyond the Pines tbh. It's not a mainstream movie, but it's not as far out as Only God Forgives. And it's not only a Gosling-picture either. :D

Because Studio Canal haven't always had inside artwork on their steeelbooks.
Oh, I see

the steelbook rookie in me is showing again. :hilarious:

The thing to remember about th film is:
Gosling only plays a role in a small part of a film that traverses 2 decades. It's kinda like saying you didn't like Star Trek because the guy that got killed in the opening scene didn't suit it lol.

Dammit man SPOILER TAGS! Some people haven't seen the film!

But yeah, the guy in the beginning of Star Trek was Chris Hemsworth (Thor). And yeah, Bradley Cooper is a much stronger and more interesting character in Pines than Gosling's was. Ben Mendelsohn was excellent too, and Ray Liotta and Bruce Greenwood played it down very well.
