Im sure its a great movie (never seen it) and im sure it'll be a great release in hand (don't have it yet..obviously) but despite this, im pretty sure if there was a poll or a survey to see what was the most highly requested steelbook release then this wouldn't be in the top 10 or top 50. I don't even think Edge of Tomorrow is either. It's like they throw out these announcements and everyone is like Walter Mitty..im one clicking this ***** cause I want it so much. I get John is putting out titles he loves, but if they're not generally popular or desired then things like this will happen. So many films out there that are screaming for a premium release that will sell a **** ton.

Can't speak to what your poll would say but for me this was definitely top 10 on my want list and I'm sure there are many here who are in the same boat. It helps that there's never been a steelbook for it before.

Well depends if we're talking desired premium releases or top ten desired releases that haven't been released in steelbook format. Neither of them would contain this movie as I stated, have never seen it. Kingsman, again, good movie, great releases by Manta but how many of us REALLY wanted that next exclusive release to be Kingsman? People were buzzing about what could come next..no one saying Kingsman but when they announced it, all of a sudden everyone wanted Kingsman.

Everyone's tastes are different and different releases are going to excite different people. John has stated that this is a personal favourite of his which is why he/Manta are releasing it.

For me, I love the movie so to be able to get it in a steelbook format is great, let alone a premium package.

I agree with cooey. It might not please everyone, but at least they have the balls to do something nobody else would do. That is why we love these small premium retailers.

I'm very excited about this. I really enjoyed it in theaters and was really disappointed no one put out a steelbook for it.

With some of the shots they have I wish this included a 4K disc.

If it is sold somewhere else it is still an exclusive product. Manta Lab has been distributing their products within the region since the very beginning.

Over time the popularity and demand has only grown with more retailers asking for stock; Recently Manta partnered with their licensee to help distribute an extremely limited amount of stock and somehow the product appeared on YesAsia (leak/resell/etc).

It doesn't make the product any less exclusive or a wide release, you can get the same thing through Group Buy's from a variety of channels and if that doesn't bother anyone why does this?

but doesnt increase that the amount of copies that really exists of this editions?
e.g. "normal" fullslip is numbered 1 to 701.. and yesasia sells exactly the same fullslip just without a limitation sticker, lets say 200 times.. that would make a total amount of 901 and would make the slip / steel less exclusive.. or did i understand something wrong?

I think before though the retailers they sold stock to didn't sell it online therefore was exclusive to the rest of the world. Now with yesasia it's different because they can sell online

I'm not really bothered about it all but maybe they should do this a few months after release. I dunno

But when this happens to zavvi or other places people loose their sh*t but with manta people accept it

I love manta but I won't always stick up for them if somethings not right whether it's distribution or artwork they have chosen

@Covcraig i agree with you to a degree, whilst for some (a small amount) it will be in their top 10 or 20 but the majority it won't come near. Is a good little film but I doubt it's even in my top 100 lol (infact I know it's not because I have a list on my phone with over 200 films i love and this ain't in it lol - not all my favourites but films I love or mean a lot to me in general)

But I also agree with @polton & @blu-steel because kimchi wouldn't of released menento, Dallas buyers club, eternal sunshine, he'll or high water, it follows etc etc etc if it weren't for them taking a risk and doing something different.
Man I hope manta or kimchi blu collection tackle vanilla sky and Donnie darko...... Do it, do it, do it!

Correct copies remain the same and Manta didnt directly give it to Yes-Asia or set the price. They got it somehow and maybe 10-20 copies if that. They are numbered so there is no vanilla edition floating around.

@Flloydo I see what you're saying about Kimchi taking risks though most of the titles you listed I wouldn't say were risks such as Dallas Buyers Club and Hell or High Water as these were nominated for several Academy awards and thus very popular in the mainstream and with films like this, they are generally a safe bet.

Wishful thinking but would love a retailer to select a specific Actor then do a range premium releases for the movies in that actors career, say for example Arnold Schwarzenegger..Predator, Total Recall, True Lies, Running Man, Commando etc.
