If that is the artwork then I think the German one looks better.
I have the German Steelbook and would agree with you that its artwork is better executed.
However, this one makes a nice contrast and under normal circumstances, I'd consider double dipping when, in a few months time, it will inevitably appear in one of amazon.fr's perennial '3 for the price of 2' offers.
Unfortunately, it's a Wild Side release so forced French sub-titles are inevitable.
I think Wild side just want to make people think that this movie is an alien invasion action movie like Independence day or any others,
which is obviously not!... they already made that in 2010 with The Last Day (Haeundae)... typical from them...
