LOL! OK seriously, what is it about this film this year? is it an anniversary or something because it just seems like there are so many editions coming out. I have the Arrow one so there is no way I'm touching this one. It's a bit awful. Would get the Scream Factory one if I was tempted to double dip though.

Honestly...how many do Zavvi think they are going to sell of this...and it has the 2008 blu ray in it!....anybody who loves this film will have the far superior Arrow or Scream Factory 4K scan....and as for that artwork! JESUS CHRIST!....sometimes I really wonder about Zavvi's business decisions!

This is a Universal Pictures release
It's a WWA shared print run in Europe and released in various european countries and might also see Asia release
Zavvi got UK exclusive as a retailer

It's not unusual to see repackaged editions of older discs while remastered editions have been done it has happened before with other releases

Arrow Films in UK and Shout Factory in USA have distribution rights for the 4K Scan transfer until that expires

Universal own the rights to the film and will continue to do repackaged releases be it amaray or steelbooks

At a later date universal might do a Blu-ray or UHD release using the 4K Scan transfer once Arrow and Shout rights expire

At first sight strange colour palette for a film set in the snow w/ iffy artwork to boot . . . although the new steelbook may be suffering in comparison to the recent steelbook with the most famous poster image on the front . . .

Nice to see an attempt at a wraparound design but unfortunate that the tendrils stop at the spine instead of continuing across it to join the back art . . . hopefully this will be corrected before production.

To be fair, though, it wasn't just the famous blue 'n' white Drew Struzan image used to promote the film but the red 'n' black of the UK quad poster too . . .
(although the steelbook appears to be more mauve than red)

. . . a colour scheme that has inspired more modern designs (all better than this one):-

So the same as the Germany release. They just have the UK rights.... correct?
Yes
It's a european release in various countries shared print run

Zavvi got UK retailer exclusive

Only difference is Jcard in each country and Blu-ray Disc that universal released in 2008 for that country

There is difference in the disc extras in some countries with the universal 2008 blu-ray disc

UK disc has
John Carpenter’s The Thing: Terror Takes Shape extra you can watch separate from the film
