Official word from ES:

We’re certainly planning to continue doing all future seasons of The Walking Dead in steelbook with matching artwork – it looks likely season 4 will be out in September 2014 as it follows the same pattern as Game of Thrones (i.e. the new season hits DVD and Blu-Ray just before the new season starts).

We’ve been told that the steelbooks will feature in the US Walking Dead magazine, so likely to be quite a bit of international interest for these.

The Entertainment Store is pleased to announce our latest exclusive steelbook releases: Seasons 1, 2 and 3 of The Walking Dead, AMC’s Emmy Award winning TV series.

Each season features world exclusive artwork by Mark Simpson AKA Jock, who is responsible for some of best regarded comics and art of this generation, having worked on 2000AD, The Losers and Hellblazer amongst others as well as producing artwork for many major film studios, including the artwork for HDN Steelbook of the Year 2012 winner The Raid.

The Walking Dead: Season 1 (Entertainment Store Exclusive Blu-Ray Steelbook):

- 2 Blu-Rays discs
- Debossed Title Treatment
- G2 Standard Steelbook case
- Limited to 4,000 copies worldwide
- Finish TBC

The Walking Dead: Season 2 (Entertainment Store Exclusive Blu-Ray Steelbook):

- 3 Blu-Rays discs
- Debossed Title Treatment
- G2 Standard Steelbook case
- Limited to 4,000 copies worldwide
- Finish TBC

The Walking Dead: Season 3 (Entertainment Store Exclusive Blu-Ray Steelbook):

- 5 Blu-Rays discs
- Debossed Title Treatment
- G2 Jumbo Steelbook case
- Limited to 4,000 copies worldwide
- Finish TBC

NB: Due to the number of discs needed for all episodes and extras, Season 3 has to be in a Jumbo format case.

All 3 Seasons are sold individually, and will be on sale exclusively through The Entertainment Store on Rakuten Play.com at midday BST on Friday 11th October 2013 when the release date and pricing will be revealed.

In the meantime, our full range of steelbooks is available here: http://www.play.com/stores/EntertainmentStore/Steelbooks

The Entertainment Store has been trading on Marketplaces since 2013 and is proud to retail only authentic and high quality Entertainment goods, delivered to customers direct from the Studio and Publishers.

Season 2 is a bit slow and my least favorite of the series but it is still better than 90% of the crap on TV. The search for Sophia plot dragged on waaaay too long.

Is this series worth watching?

It's alright. I had read the comic-books, so I was kind of disappointed at first, but by season 2 I got over my hope of having a faithful adaptation of what could have been an outstanding drama series. Instead, it's pretty much a soap opera with (well-crafted) action scenes and gory bits.

I didn't like most of season 1 (6 episodes). The pilot was truly amazing, and then I was hugely disappointed by the next few episodes - though episode 1.05 almost was a silver lining.

I prefer season 2 (13 episodes), Daryl became a lot more likable, great new characters were introduced, they killed off main characters (including one that needed to be killed), there were truly epic moments (e.g: end of episode 2.07, many in the last 3 episodes). I was definitely quite satisfied.

And then season 3 (16 episodes) arrived: the first part (episodes 3.01 to 3.08) is very good, undeniably the best streak of episodes of The Walking Dead so far. Sadly, the second part (episodes 3.09 to 3.16) was quite underwhelming, the writers just didn't have enough content for 8 episodes (having only 13 episodes instead of 16 would've been better imo), they kept pushing the inevitable outcome until episode 3.16 and then it was ultimately disappointing.

The Walking Dead is not one of the best shows on TV, imo ;). It's on par with, say, American Horror Story: solid entertainment, a bit stupid, sometimes surprising and often enjoyable. Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, Homeland, Masters of Sex, Shameless, House of Cards, Sons of Anarchy, Justified, The Americans, Orphan Black, Rectify, The Good Wife, Hannibal : now those are must-see drama series (currently in production).

Are these steelbooks without italian language?

I've been reading most of your posts and you're a mystery, Gubizzo, I really wonder where you're from :hilarious::hilarious:.

Congrats on finally hitting 30 posts :D.

To answer your question, ragazzo, there won't be any subtitles other than English for Hard of Hearing on this Blu-ray set, and no languages besides English too, sadly (same goes for seasons 2 & 3).

English isn't my first language either and I personally think The Walking Dead is a very easy show to understand. "Are you alright?", "I'm fine", "Arghhhhhhhh!!!!", "[shots fired]", "Caaaaaaarl?" "[axe swinging]" "Grhhhhhhhh", that's basically half of most episodes .

Btw, you shouldn't worry about other languages, The Walking Dead has to be seen in original version with subtitles — the same goes for all other English-speaking films or TV shows. Dubbing takes away so much ;).

That's awesome that ES might ship worldwide for this Walking Dead set, might convince me to pull the trigger after all :oohyeah:. It's still €100 for 3 seasons without French subtitles, and I'm not the biggest fan of the show, but still, I'm tempted. Hopefully ES will be able to ship 2 Guns worldwide as well.

Nothing against David, his GB skills are awesome (well, I haven't seen my big package yet so my opinion might change, but I'm sure it won't :D), but it's more convenient for us like that, and it's much less work for him too, so it works out for everyone !

EDIT : Hey ! It's not exactly worldwide, there are some exceptions (same goes for the other two seasons). No shipping below the United States, or in Russia, Spain, Italy, etc.

Item location : UK, United Kingdom.

These look decent but not as good as we have come to expect from Entertainment Store. They're not worth the price they are asking in my opinion, so i'm glad I didn't pre-order now. I just hope that 2 Guns has a little more quality because I am going for that one. Hopefully it will match the quality of the Paramount releases.

Considering we'll likely never see a USA run of TWD, I'm snapping these up while I have a chance.

Just don't see many TV steels now-a-days, but I get what you are saying - I think I personally would have liked to see a bit more color - maybe red blood or something like that.
