It's getting to the point that the default price for a premium is $100—which certainly narrows the field and controls the urge to buy those "not sure I want this, but I'll pick it up just in case" items. On the negative side, it'll be hard to pass on some things I'd kind of like; but on the positive, it makes each purchase special, because there will have to be fewer of them.

Unfortunaly as long as there are people who are whiling to pay no matter what for 1 edition, they will just keep increasing the prices. And those same people are the ones who will have to pay for those high prices, because the others will stop buying. Filmarena and a few others really dont care as long as they sell. I totaly understand you dont get me wrong, but we shouldn´t be paying that for any of those editions, or soon they will be just available for an even more restrict group pf people and not even you will be able to afford any.

I don't disagree with you. Over the past year or two especially, the steelbook hobby has become too expensive and too exclusive (for my preferences, at least). It used to be that as long as you knew the right time and place, you would have a good chance of picking up an item you wanted at the release price (which was never $100+). But lately there are more releases that are either 1) prohibitively expensive right from the start, or 2) only available to people who know the right time and place and have paid extra to be elite members of a site or a retailer. That kind of exclusiveness kind of takes the fun out of collecting for me. I don't mind occasionally missing out on something when it's an even free-for-all and I happened to be too late. But when it depends on levels of membership or numbers of editions I've bought from a particular retailer...that feels artificially "elite."

It's not a big problem of the world that keeps me up at night. :) I still have fun in the hobby as I'm able to, and I assume that the future of physical media releases and premium editions is probably fading fast.

You get a lot more with this one and the steelbook is great but I prefer the HDZeta package as a whole. Just seems neater.

For a WWA steel it is really nice though

I totally agree with this assessment, but not quite with your conclusion. I don't care about being an elite member somewhere or have early access to potential new grails. I mean, all of these things that sell out immediately are available on ebay by the dozens as soon as they are released (or before) and especially with these Black Barons/FAC releases you can usually get them at cost (or even below like with Casino recently) there. That being said, by making it more exclusive and only tailored towards rich collectors, the format of premium releases establishes itself in the long run, because people who don't care if something costs $30, $50 or $100 will continue to fund these (increasingly smaller and more exclusive) editions, while people who only care about collecting their favourite movies will probably start buying regular Blurays or move to streaming even. It will become a hobby for less people, or geared even more towards scalpers and "investors", but it will still be a sellers market.
You never hear about sellers of luxury yachts or jewellery stores going under.....

That conclusion was unconnected to the rest of the post, actually. :) I do think that physical media is on its way out, but for reasons other than the niche of premium editions. The current era is streaming-service chaos, but I assume that eventually it will all condense into a few (or one) services that everyone will just pay for without thinking about it, and have access to everything.

But none of this is really adding to the conversation about The Wizard of Oz. And for now, I'm looking forward to seeing what this edition looks like in person.

Can I still order this anywhere?

Sold out.

You can post in the "looking for" thread once you hit 20 non-spammy posts, see if anyone is letting go of their copy. Good luck.
