The inside artwork should be the outside artwork, with the right knob flipped so that it points to the right! Embossed. That would be an awesome SteelBook! Anybody care to do a mock-up?

That quote on the back cover should be what you see when you open it up - Not on the back blatantly taking the piss out of the fact that it's just a big black SteelBook! Somebody really F'ed up during the design stage of this release, and I would hate to be that guy!

Studio Canal really need to go back to the drawing board for this one, and I sincerely hope that they haven't sent this to press yet! If we're expected to pay a premium price for a catalogue title, then they can at least put some effort into the artwork!

i don't think they will get many pre-orders until the price drops below £15.
unless there is more than meets the eye?
are these gonna be glossy with slipcases and booklets? are they taking a leaf from blufans/kmichi and making a premium release here?
if not, its a big mistake to try to fleece us - given the current public opinion on low quality overpriced steels.

I'm sure they put this quote to avoid the inevitable backlash over a backart completely black.

It's a widespread release available in store, and I'm sure some customers who're not steelbook collectors (or people who haven't seen the film yet / don't get the reference) would have come back to the store to complain about the lack of back art.

It was too risky/bold to go completely black, I've heard you can't go back from that ;).

So they did what you guys have been doing for (p)ages now: quoting that moment from the film .

Highly appropriate art if you ask me!

I'd actually of preferred it all black, with maybe the title debossed or embossed.:scat:

I'm guessing those complaining have never seen the film or don't get the joke.

for me it is the image that immediately comes to mind when I think of this flick. I was familiar with the cover long before I ever even saw the movie.

I actually like the artwork and think it's quite clever... it made me laugh out loud when I first saw it. :p

Terrible. Candidate for worst steelbook thread. I would have liked all black with embossing. They could have always put a sticker on the front so mom/pop could figure it out.

I could make this steelbook myself with a blank steelbook case and a tin of matte black. just stick the disc from my standard blu ray in there which cost £6 from hmv a while back (pffft how much they want for this :hilarious:) and bobs yor uncle. Spray it black inside too. It's like, how much more black could this be? And the answer is... NONE. None more black :scat:

We'll bum-cakes to this one, not worth a double dip for me.

Just had a thought though, our forlorn hope for an all black design would be PERFECT for 2001: A Space Odyssey - Monolith Edition. :scat:

Granted it dosen't have the laugh count of Spinal Tap, but it would be awesome.

Yeah no offence mate I'm not feeling many of studiocanal releases so for me I wouldn't call this amazing. Iron Man Play.com for £10.99 was amazing.

I thought you guys were all asking for this sort of plain black design?
That's what I thought... they got what they asked for and yet they're still not happy. And I didn't mean that to sound like a jab at anyone in particular (or at anyone at all) by the way... I'm just confused as to why a lot of people aren't happy that the artwork basically turned out to be what they originally hoped it'd be. :dunno:
