Agreed, The Avengers not being sold out is the biggest indicator here. The Artwork May be bad enough that not many are buying into it but Avengers is Avengers and will surely sell at a similar pace to Thor and considering it's 'limited' also. So If Avengers sold at even half speed it would theoretically be sold out now; but it isn't lol.
When striking a deal. Disney logically would make equal amounts of each for all of these new releases and it would have to be worth it. Especially at this time of year.
Marvel does sell fast So My guess would be they release 5k of each and they will re-order more of the ones not branded 'limited edition'.
That is a lot of steels in comparison, for example Disney's brother bear (limited to 3000) a slow mover but needed in every persons Disney steelbook collection on a buy one get one free at the moment still hasn't sold out for about 5 months. Different genre entirely but principle is there.
Thor being Marvel will in actual fact sell out but Zavvi are using a tried and true method of scaring people to set the pace just before christmas and it is pretty sick.
When people start getting these in hand some of which wanting to re-sell, the market will be so flooded that scalpers will have probably have to lose money after ebay fees in order to recoup some of their costs. In sense you could probably pick this up cheaper after Christmas.
My theory is that Thor is selling fast enough to come back in stock, conveniently be sold out over black friday and come back again. Zavvi will have made so much money with these tactics that by then if still not sold out there will be a reduction in price.
Damn I wrote an essay and I could be completely wrong about everything
