I picked a single rune reading for the Zavvi release of Thor. It said...

Hagalaz - crisis and catastrophe, disruption, unavoidable unpleasantness.

one can expect this rune to represent the disruption of one's life. delay or hindrance is frequently associated with this rune

as guessed earlier, which would be my bet black friday is coming up reckon all marvels will be up then myself. in order to sell in one big hype from zavvi. as usual normal zavvi tactics.

but for me these don't really cut the mustard and have most already. but good luck to those that want but think prices are steep myself.

basil

I'm going to keep my pre-order of this and pick up the second one, if I like them in hand, I'll move my HMV and Zavvi exclusive's on, and if there not for me, I'll give them to a Ninja for Christmas......

Sorry @Mr Y Fronts that you felt my chat with @Flloydo regarding the potential/marketing of this release was 'nonsense' and I had helped derail this thread, but I think 90% of ninja's go off topic every now and then, I was on topic about this release as it happen's, however I would like to draw your attention to the Gangs of New York thread, a thread I subscribed to and then un-subscribed to due to the amount of non-releated pictures being posted for example a wrestler kicking someone in the face, and if I remember rightly you fell foul of a mod and a lot of your content was deleted, now I'm not looking for a fight or an argument, I have neither the time nor the patience, it is a privilege to be part of this site and I respect everyone on here.....

I finally decided to cancel my one. More than happy with my blufans one (like I said). For those still looking to get one I know it'll come back in stock (even if it's for a little while).

Hope I don't live to regret it tho

I agree and I think it is quite normal to discuss marketing, packaging, (Ebay prices), individual collections, and pretty much everything that revolves around the blu-ray itself including titles being released around the same time as a comparison. This is information that experienced collectors can provide and the reason I signed up.

Too many rules will lose subscribers and if anything has gone off topic it has been started with a complaint about going off topic :coffee: Welcoming me to the Forum is off topic .. Sorry i signed up :hilarious:

I add my watched threads as a bookmark and click on them from time to time unless they are dead; otherwise on topic or not my email would be full.

Whatever some of us may think about the pricing of this item I personally will raise a glass to the retailer for offering it to me as a standalone and not sticking it exclusively with one of their ZBOXs :happy:
Here's hoping that the others still not available for pre-order do so at a similar price or, in the case of the 2D, at a fiver cheaper.

Cheers Z.!

To tell the truth I'm quite happy to have been given this chance which I would not have had if tied exclusively to a ZBOX.
The fact remains that retailerscan market their products in any way they see fit and in agreement with others in the chain and like I said I'm relieved that the decision was made to release this one (and the others?) as standalones.
That's my POV and everybody else is welcome to their opinion - 'nuff said.

Your raising your glass to a retailer for letting you buy this without spending another £20 on top on crap you most likely won't like!?

Absurd

This is how it should be sold all along like 99.9999999% of their releases
And the .1 of a % is iron man and captain America which they will sell as a standalone guaranteed

You shouldn't praise them for being shifty and trying to get more money out you but then blatently failing at it and saying well actually you can buy it on its own.

Let's see what crazy way they think up next to get you to spend an extra £20 so you can get a steelbook

He does what he wants and no one is forced to buy.

It's praising zavvi when they have tried pathetic attempts of trying to get more money out of you I'm commenting on.

I praise the people that didn't buy into their tricks & bundles so that they were forced to sell these as standalones

You bring up excellent points and a good counter argument to the initial comment, but like @ariba266 stated, it's still boils down to personal choice. If you really want an item, it's your choice to buy it or not even if it's bundled with the amazingly innovative Zbox (o boy!!!). I second your praise for those who didn't bite on the initial Zbox combo. I'm also waiting for the inevitable price drop on that Avengers/AoU bundle which I'll gladly get when it becomes half off or less.

I do get that and it may of came across rude but it wasn't a personal attack infact my only comment on the actual person was "absurd".
Any ways I just can't stand praise where it's really not deserved lol

Yeah I'm looking forward to how that one turns out (if it's gloss or matte etc) but more importantly I want to see the back. If it's a giant shield like the HMV one or another A I'll definatley give it a miss.
Need to be really cool and colourful art

I passed on this as I will pass on all the others in this marvel wave. Blufans & Kimchi couldn't beat the original releases, so there is no way in hell Zavvi will beat them.

My Marvel Steel collection is worth thousands and I'm done dumping money into inferior releases of films that I already have at least x5 over already.

Hi
Does anyone know if and when the other Marvel Steel Books Go online, or are all sold out?
Thomas
No. 2 of this standalone wave "Thor: Dark World" is by most accounts going live Sat. 14 / 11 / 15 at 6pm (though one site - probably in error - has it down for 12 noon on same day).

This will come back on sale but on amazon or ebay (zavvi outlet crap) and it will be more expensive and with postage cost.

Anyone else noticed that steelbooks are becoming more and more expensive? Even standard releases like this one. Nothing premium about it from my POV.

Did some math and you're not going to like it :D

Steelbook case (with art) - US $ 2.50 (at best $ 3.00)
2D disc - US $ 1.00
3D disc - US $ 1.50
DVD disc (if in package) - worthless - maybe US $ 0.25
Digital code - US $ 0.10

We are all overpaying for steelbooks and yet we still do it out of urge or some other stupid reason.
I guess we're the monkeys in this game and retailers have all the bananas :hilarious:

And when they say JUMP, we say HOW HIGH?

I wouldn't raise a glass to Zavvi in any context. Horrible company with not an ounce of customer care. Their exclusive steelbooks will only get them so far.

I'm still trying to get them to cancel my "1 month" Zbox subscription from last month. I have sent 9 emails on different days all with a response saying they have "passed it on". I'll probably have to cancel my Mastercard. Stupid of them because if it was an easy process I would have bought again in the future.

Here is to raising a finger to Zavvi
