Maybe someone who is not a Steelbook collector? Someone who is not a collector would have no way of knowing it's true value, that doesn't really make them a clown.

Anyone that sells something collectible for much less than its value is a clown. I don't collect football memorabilia but I wouldn't give a signed England Bobby Charlton shirt to a charity shop

Im more of a DC fan, so not too fussed about having the whole phase one in Steelbook form, do want iron man 1 and 2 though.

Just picked up Batman future shop steelbook for £25 off ebay, was in a mental bidding war

I agree with you, but I've been in many CEX stores.

Some people are just interested in clearing their shelves of DVD's/Blu Rays/Games that they don't want any more and tend to do it in one hit. They also won't go through the same thought logic that you or I or most on here would go through. Also people want to trade in their items to get other items (newer releases) to save spending more money on them.

You would at least think to check Ebay or Google for prices at the very least before getting shot of stuff.

as mentioned before it does not make you a clown, steelbooks to some people are the same as a normal blu ray, they cost the same. If you dont collect steels them you have no clue on value and describing it as a "signed England Bobby Charlton shirt" isnt really the same thing is it?

The Bobby Charlton shirt is an extreme example but i think I made the point. Whether the person is a clown, an idiot, whatever word you want to use, someone who throws money away without considering the true value of something is all of these things.

We live in an age where it isn't exactly difficult to find the true value of something.

Well thanks for the contribution.

some people dont have time or money to get onto the net and research, some people are hard up and sell things at cex due to the need for fast money, some people dont use forums and ebay, if someone gets a blu ray as a gift and then wants a little cash for it thats there choice, it does not make them a clown or whatever.

+1

Also, there are clued up eBay scalpers and collectors who visit EEK!

If it wasnt for people selling for quick cash, you wouldnt find the bargains..... So my question is, WhY sO SerIOus?

I received the HMV Thor steelbook with 2 noticeable dents on the front. Ended up shipping it back for a replacement only to have that one arrive in a even worse condition! Finally gave up and requested a refund. It was just not meant to be. :(

Couldnt agree more. Steelbook collecting isnt the be all and end all suprisingly  Maybe these "clowns" had been outside and seen some actual daylight and the fresh air went to their head so they didnt think to scour the internet to see how they could rip people off for an item that in reality is a piece of metal housing a disk like a collector would ;)

Congrats on the steal dude, always nice to get a bargain. My local CEX is rubbish but some appear to have some right crackers!

Now time to list it on ebay for £100? :hilarious:

It all comes down to personal value...lets say for example, my sister wanted to buy a new release and it just happened to be in a steelbook, she would have no idea what is was and most likely throw it in her "movie bin" with all the other $1 dvd's ;)
If people don't know the value of something, or that its a collectible at all, they are not clowns or morons or whatever...
Some people collect rocks!!..I'm sure I have thrown away plenty of "rocks" that somebody would consider "valuable"..
Its all the same..a steelbook is piece of metal with a movie in it...a baseball card is a piece of cardboard...a stamp is a piece of paper..its all about what your into..
