I have all 3 Toy Story Steelbooks on order

If Toy Story 1 Steelbook not good then I will cancel the other 2 Steelbooks
I used a discount code so I will wait until I see a Toy Story unboxing video before I decide
I won't be able to wait until I have Toy Story in the flesh as payment would be taken for the other 2 before i get delivery of Toy Story

I hope there full gloss finish
But If there a matte finish I hope at least they have some spot gloss treatment

Now that the date has changed, are you going to keep the Toy story (1-3) or cancell them to see a video review first?

Maybe there is a date change because they read all our Gloss comments? Maybe going to quickly gloss them over.

There are 2 types of gloss on steelbooks. A little bit like 3D movies.

You get movies filmed in 3D, and you get Post converted 3D movies.

I see this being a "post converted gloss" - A steel already made, with gloss coating over it.

Instead of "filmed in gloss" - A steel purposely glossed before finishing touches (Kick-Ass 2 style)

Well I wont have that option now :(
I hope they did not read my previous post :hilarious:

I have them still on order for now
I will have to make a decision by Mon 13th or Tue 14th if I keep the orders

I love to Know what the stock levels are with Toy Story Steelbooks
If lot of steelbooks still in stock after release date we can expect a price drop I suppose
But if qty still to be sold is small then that wont happen

???????? do I keep my pre orders as by the time we get to see a video payment will already be taken and shipped

Decisions as I have a lot of steelbooks on order from Feb 10th
Looks like its corn flakes for dinner for a month :joy:

Well paul, from what i read in these thread so far, a lot of people cancel their Toy story 1-3 to wait to see the first pictures or to wait for the price to drop around £9.99.
So i dont think it will be sold out.
I will wait to see the pictures first and also to see picture of Fantasia to decide.

I don't know if people know this. By the sounds of it, none of you do, but if you get an item from Zavvi, there is a returns option... :hilarious:

Lol. I've never had to return items to zavvi before, but from what people have said about their customer service its sounds like something to be avoided where possible.

Zavvi putting this date back has kinda made me want to cancel the first one, I cancelled 2 and 3 as I wanted to see how good/bad 1 turns out.. Hmmmm.. will have to think about it.. personally, I hate the hassle involved in returning stuff.

Wish it was true that the release date has changed for a last minute glossing of all 3 SB's:scat:

Its easier to cancel and then re order if you then decide you really want it
and with zavvi recently with price drops after release date that's in most cases the reason why lot cancel

There is a lot of releases from
Jan 20
Feb 10/17
March 3/10/17/31

Disney and Pixar very popular if there was no other release most would keep there orders especially if we knew they were full gloss treatment
But with heavy load of other releases that's the problem here for most

I most likely will keep Toy Story 1/2/3 on order but this may affect the other orders I have except sold out releases
Some people to return is not a option as you have to wait for a refund and that's a cash flow problem for some its easier to cancel and wait for a price drop or re order later if cash flow ok or they see a video or photos of the steelbook in the flesh and like what they see

With Disney/Pixar or any other steelbook release if would be great if Zavvi posted video of the steelbook before release date
If the steelbook looked fantastic they would have better chance of selling out
If its good why not show how good it is before release date

yeh, when you are at the store you can pick up the product and actually look at it before you buy. online you cant do that. some sites offer a 3D view of the product.

i think if they expect us to pay premium price for what is really just a bare bones film, they should at least give us some indication of the finish/treatment... if that is what people want to know.

its incredible they expect people to blind buy, or just buy in faith. if they have confidence that they are releasing top quality products, there should be no problem in releasing the info on the finish, and showing pictures/video.

i think this issue matters when the steelbook is silver, when people think its white. because their stock image doesnt give a good enough representation of how the product actually looks.

when you pick up something in a shop, this wouldnt be an issue, so you would either like it, or dislike it. sending something back to an online retailer is a hassle and a complete waste of time. if zavvi produced a more detailed description (or more pics) before release, it would make shopping with them so much straight forward... rather than the situation right now of waiting for others to gamble first, then look how it turned out lol

Just cancelled my Toy Story 1-3 pre-orders. Not really impressed with what I've seen so far, and with Wreck-it-Ralph and other Disney & Pixar steels coming up, it's just too expensive. As I've said earlier, I'd love for the Pixar steels to have 2D concept art on the cover as I think it would be more stylish. It's never going to happen though.

Hey guys, I've contacted them to see if any additional info has been made available to them. In other situations and with most retailers, there is no way to know what the Steelbook will actually feel or look like until in hand, as not all details are necessarily made available in advance. If there are further details to share, I'll post. Thanks.

I think the sudden price rise came when zavvi started, released their (quality) steelbooks that sold out and then saw they could charge more. Now we now we're not getting the same quality as aladdin, they can't charge as much and get away with it. Soon they'll have to drop the price or increase the quality as I for one will be cancelling all my orders.

would be nice if they pushed one or two of the 20th Jan's Disney steels by a week or two as well. It was handy this was separated by a week, but now I'm looking at £100 on Disney steel in the same week (The TSs, Ralph and Fantasia)... EEK!
