I don't understand why people are so upset about this? It wont be a direct reprint. Although the same art has been used it's likely to have a different finish and few people own the original. I'm glad that i'll be able to get a copy. Zavvi doesn't owe you anything.

karl01 my thoughts exactly. I am happy for the new collectors to get a hold of this for a nice amount, but at the same time i fell for the collectors that already had this FS release. It´s almost identical...

For me I had decided before this to sell of my Transformers steels, because I decided to get the "robot" versions. Today Megatron arrieved and together with Optimus Prime and Bumblebee I got the trilogy.

They already have.

rly ? which one ? oldboy isnt an exclusive title..

maybe it has also to do with the artwork itself and whether it was designed by the retailer or given by the studios... blufans up or hmvs drive were designed by hmv / blufans themselves and i doubt any other retailer may pick those artworks up just like that

I own alot of steelbooks that have been re-released. I collect just so i have a nice premium packaging that i can enjoy in the transition from my bluray going from my shelf into my ps3 ;). I dont care about re-releases, if it means others can enjoy them without having to pay £80-£100 then im all for it. :scat:

I don't get why it is bad, I have collected steelbooks for over 4 years and have nearly 200, I don't buy anything but steelbooks I definatley class myself as a collector, I dont care if they use te same art as it is nice, I think the issue is that te original FS release will become slightly de valued? I think that is what is upsetting people, I don't give a same in the value of my collection just want nice steelbooks with films I want to own.

Its not bad us its a bad steelbook far from it its bloody amazing one of the best ever from fs. The fact that zavvi as used the same artwork is bad for the collectors that owned the fs steel. each to there own imo i think its bad for the market zavvi could do any steel now and use the same artwork

Star Trek

i doubt they will ever re-release a UK steelbook with the same artwork

Play's exclusive Star Trek XI springs to mind :(

Some folk do value their collection highly and you only have to look at certain aftermarket selling prices to appreciate why they would.

Value aside, Transformers as a movie franchise has a wealth of amazing imagery and some of the most vibrant colours and artwork going for it. So when they churn out the same artwork again it is disappointing for many collectors for a number of reasons. Devaluing the existing version will normally be the reason people are more vocal about, but sheer laziness should never be praised either if you ask me

Studios are probably more guilty than the retailer in most instances, but a re-release will never be as well accepted by collectors as new artwork. Surely the aim should be to get better rather than just be the same as before. I think it's called progression ;)

Zavvi thank you but feel for those guys with their not so very expensive FS version anymore but I guess it ruins the collectible factor a bit but I guess this how the game is now, so just buy for the love of films and steelbooks and not the money. I love the artwork but the film is pretty standard 2 out of 5 rating for me.

Either way, its being released i understand it sucks for some and others are happy, either way its being released. At least its not Iron Man FS. (Maybe thats next) :p

Its not bad us its a bad steelbook far from it its bloody amazing one of the best ever from fs. The fact that zavvi as used the same artwork is bad for the collectors that owned the fs still. each to there own imo i think its bad for the market zavvi could do any steel now and use the same artwork

Well I do understand your point of view to a degree but feel though the collectors who still own FS version (sealed) are upset as they wont be able to sell this for 100+ when they come up a bit short of cash in the future, for me owning the film in amazing packaging is far more important that having something sealed that is high value, just my personal opinion.
I do hope Zavvi do release new artworks on steelbooks moving forward but do think this is amazing too.

yeah, but it was released in many countries, so i guess it wasnt zavvis decision to rerelease this

There are only two countries before Zavvi that released similar white star trek, Play.com and FS. There wasn't 'many' countries.

The Play.com release is an identicle release from Zavvi.

The FS version isn't 100% identicle. It is more whiter with less of the black 'whoosh' marks.

My thoughts exactly. I would've happily triple-dipped on these films if Zavvi had given their steelbooks new artwork, so I guess it's them that's losing out really. Still, I'm happy for those that don't already own the FS edition. :)
