There are only two countries before Zavvi that released similar white star trek, Play.com and FS. There wasn't 'many' countries.

The Play.com release is an identicle release from Zavvi.

The FS version isn't 100% identicle. It is more whiter with less of the black 'whoosh' marks.

the re-release was issued in the uk, france, spain & japan

I seriously don't understand this. I enjoy steelbooks because it's a cool piece of packaging with nice art for films. I enjoy movies and steelbooks are an addition. If you buy a steelbook you mostly just see a small spine until you watch the film. I buy to collect them and because they are cool not to re-sell them for a profit. In which case why does a reprint matter. This has given me and many others to finally get this artwork in steel :oohyeah: because paying 80+ for a case for a film seems too much for many. Zavvi do not owe us anything. If you don't like it don't buy it. Reprints will happen as zavvi... a business... will try to make money as a business will do. If you don't like that then you will have to quit as thats the harsh reality I'm afraid. Anyway great looking art. I'm excited :oohyeah::LOL:

We read it, no need to repost it :)

Well I do understand your point of view to a degree but feel though the collectors who still own FS version (sealed) are upset as they wont be able to sell this for 100+ when they come up a bit short of cash in the future, for me owning the film in amazing packaging is far more important that having something sealed that is high value, just my personal opinion.
I do hope Zavvi do release new artworks on steelbooks moving forward but do think this is amazing too.

It's not all about value my friend. What about the specialness of owning a rare collectible? I am happy to own Sideshow collectible of ROTF Optimus Prime maquette which is probably my grail collectible I have and value, not in terms of value money, but to me it's the best collectible I have ever owned.

Regardless if it is worth pennies or not in the future, if I saw a re-release I be pretty sad because there's the loss of unique specialness that is gone as it's now available everywhere again. Value is not all about money but it certainly helps!

Many of the new members and newish collectors not saying you are us i dont know would be happy with this getting released. But alot of the colectors that have been around collecting for many years and have been around hidefninja for many years will understand why identical artwork is not good for collectors.

Hey I respect your opinion as to me you seam like someone who isn't buying rare items to re sell in the future but there is sure a lot of them out there.

Yeah I understand. I think my problem is that I collect steelbooks with alot less passion than alot of people. Sorry if I offended

I really did'nt mind re releases till this one. It's probably because Transformers are some of my fav films and steelbooks, I usually buy steelbooks for artwork mainly aswell, I have 7 different Kickass steelbooks and nearly all the transformers steelbooks. Just was hopeing for some different artwork.

my theory:

self designed artwork= safe from reprints (drive hmv, terminator play, up blufans,...)
studio given artwork = prone to reprints

Happy to see this release just to complete the collection... was not to happy about the film as it could have been better. I do not mind its a re-release. Its not not the first film to have a re-release so I think I am over it....

Do we have to go over this in every thread? Can't we just have a re-release thread where everyone can voice their opinion, moan, gripe etc and then just keep these threads for the actual Steelbooks? I'm fed up of reading the same crap over and over. I've been guilty of getting involved in discussions like this in the past, but i'm done with that now. There is absolutely no point in arguing against re-releases because you will just get called a scalper and it won't actually change anything.
