I thought Zavvi were stating 4k release on certain steelbook which is now certainly not the case, Tron etc?

Wouldn't be surpised to see the rocketeer come back.

I am doing this although just no point financially to keep them really.

But my question was "When did Zavvi ever state they would only release a limited number of titles as steelbooks?"

But my question was "When did Zavvi ever state they would only release a limited number of titles as steelbooks?"

Oh okay my comprehension skills are lacking this morning.

None a retailer is entitled to flood the market if it wants, May not be the perfect business sense but there will make money none the less.

How has the The word "limited" lost its meaning?

When did Zavvi ever state they would only release a limited number of titles as steelbooks?

I don't think frankfish meant that zavvi had stated "limited steelbooks"etc.. I think what frankfish was saying was... before zavvi got into the steelbook game, it was steelbooks themselves that were "limited"in relation to how many had been made at that time compared to say, amaray releases, before zavvi got involved it was play.com and hmv and their steelbook releases were few and far between. . And therefore "limited" zavvi comes along and within a year have released ??? Number of SB's, therefore SB's due to zavvi are no longer "limited", not it the same sense as they once were anyhow. That is what I understood from that comment.. and I agree with it.. to be fair there are a lot of steelbook's from all over flooding the market, so its not just zavvi, but in that instance it was zavvi we were disscussing so its zavvi that got the brunt (which they deserve after their last little stunt lol) If I have missunderstood I apologise for that and writting this long post:emb::D

I've not read all the comments about the £10.99 price, but I will say one thing. BLACK FRIDAY!!!!!

You seriously cannot expect Zavvi to keep their prices up so you won't be offended. I bought Revenge of the Fallen at full price and took it on the chin that the price decreased.

I bought an LED TV 42" (2D Only) for £899.99 in 2012. Today, I could get a LED TV 55" 3D for the same price.

Prices are never fair. You cannot please everyone. People complain that prices are too high, yet buy anyway. Then when the price decreases, people complain. Retailers can't win.

At the end of the day, they price things high because they know people will buy. If you want them to price things low to begin with, then you (yes you) will have to arrange for everyone to stop buying on release date in order for the retailers to price things lower.

Personally I've taken it on the chin with zavvi reducing their prices 2, 3, 4 weeks after I've recieved my pre orders which I've not had a problem with, I wanted the steelbooks on day one and am happy to buy them.. and even knowing they reduce their prices I have never cancelled a future pre order even with the knowledge that they're bound to reduce prices quickly cos I don't mind, prices come down in time, tvs, mobiles etc.. thats not my issue. I had a problem with zavvi yesterday (regardless of black friday) because they significantly dropped the prices of steelbook's I hadn't even recieved yet.. that just takes the piss. I will still pre order steelbooks from zavvi and if it doesn't sell out before the release date I will cancel and wait for a price drop, I will no longer give them my money straight off.. i'm not angry, I've just changed the way I buy from zavvi from now on, I want to get some of the bargains in the future too. :D

While this is very true and I agree on most of your points, you just can't compare a price drop over several months or a year to a price drop after a week.

Zavvi didn't have to drop the price on this particular release, there are plenty others that are a few months old to offer a 'sale' on. This really is a ''**** you'' to people that pre-ordered in good faith and paid the full price. I think the worst thing is that some people overseas still haven't received their pre-ordered copy, yet the price as slashed just to rub it in.

I bet if the price was to have fallen in the new year, there wouldn't be such a problem.

If a company has a lot of items they can't shift. They might as well lower the price at a time when most people expect bargains.

This is a 1 disc matte finish release. They won't EVER sell them all at £14.99.

^ Well if that is the case then there is a bigger problem. Such as why release/order something that you know won't sell at the asking price?

I still stand by my initial comment. They should have left the price alone for at least a few weeks and use the Jan sales to mark the price down if sales are slow or they want to clear stock.

I agree with everything you said. Even before this latest round of price drops, there was a growing trend of price drops on Zavvi exclusives. If you absolutely must buy a title on release, it is the risk you take.

I got this in hand today and first thing I did was put it up next to my FS version for comparison and boy does the FS one blow this away. Quailty on this is terrible. I don't care if this has embossing, debossing, different inside artwork....the fact that the spine is barely readable kills it. Doesn't even match up with the other spines. No thanks...keeping the FS.

The FS one is going for over $100 on ebay.

The Zavvi version has about a 90% similar artwork compared to the FS version, and paying over $100 for one isn't worth it when I can buy something that's 90% the same for quarter of the cost.

To each his/her own, buddy! If you have the money and want to spend it just do it ,otherwise go for the cheaper option. I would rather pay more for a better and more collectable product. I guess you draw the line somewhere...I would not buy a real Monet painting.

Thanks. The Zavvi one just falls short of being comparable and maybe even being a bit better than the FS one. If the title was a bit bigger and the Transformer calligraphy pattern on the front wasnt muted and shined like the back does, it couldn't be denied...even with the matte finish. I still think this one is a better fit overall and makes the collection look more complete as it matches up perfectly with the T1 and T3 steels visually. Good release imo.

It even gets crucified when put side by side with the play.com edition. Pics here only tell half the story.

...ppl who dont have this in hand really do need to STFU imo :movie:

My German dotm arrived yesterday, what a difference a bit of gloss makes.
