Wales UK.
Hey guys I thought I would post an email I sent to Disney today raising concerns with their latest UK releases. Just wondered how many agree with me. You never know if enough of us make our voiced heard they might take notice.

I will let you know if I hear anything from them.

I wrote the following:

I am writing to you as a loyal customer of over 15 years.

I own around 40 Disney DVD's and around the same in Disney Blu-Rays. I am most upset by the recent releases you have brought out and hoped you could provide some explanations into the issues I have noticed & experienced. To begin with I recently purchased Tarzan on blu ray and was disappointed with the apparent lack of quality of the video as well as it being a single disc edition. As well as this I planned to purchase the Cinderella Diamond edition set but I was pretty disgusted to discover that you have decided to release the blu ray and DVD as separate editions! What happened to the Double and Triple play editions? I noticed the US are getting several versions including one with both discs and a digital copy. Is this fair?

Moreover I have just received 2 copies of the Avengers Assemble steelbook from HMV which I pre-ordered and was saddened to discover that you did not award any Disney Movie Rewards with each purchase! I also own the German version which DOES offer a reward code but as it is for the German site I cannot claim them! How is this fair also? Do you realise you failed to supply award codes in the UK release?

At present I am feeling rather annoyed at the treatment us UK customers seem to be suffering. As I stated earlier I have been a loyal and avid fan of Disney but I feel that us UK consumers are having a rough deal and we seem to be spending more money only to be given less!

I hope these issues I have brought to your attention seek to influence the decisions you make in the future regarding any new releases. I know to begin with we would love to be offered the chance to purchase metal cased Steelbooks which are highly collectible. Our US and Canadian counterparts are often treated to some stunning releases only for us to be given the bare bones and as stated earlier the double play editions were also editions that we have grown to expect.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Regards,

Opinions?

Apoligies to any mods if this is in the wrong place. Move it if needs be please.

Fanks! :D

you are right in everything you are saying, but i doubt you will get any satisfaction from disney

d'ya know what's been bothering me as well. Lack of slipcases on releases for both pixar and animated classics. The inconstancy really annoys me.

When disney blurays were first being released, they were all available with slipcovers. however they've began to ignore this 90% of the time. Tarzan, bugs life, Pocahontas, Alice in Wonderland(animated) 101 Dalmatians, wall e,The Aristocats, incredibles, The Fox and the Hound are all released without slipcases, but then lady and the tramp and cinderella are released with slipcovers. What makes it worse is most of these get slipcovers in the usa. (tarzan not out yet, cant find info on 101dalmations but you get the idea)

If you start releasing a collection of films with slipcases, in my opinion all should have slipcases, it's really annoying that half have slipcovers half don't.

I cannot agree more. The slips made them a little more special. It was annoying to receive a release which should have had a slip but somehow didn't. One of which would have now been rare (when if the job was done right should never have been!)

I agree aside from the points/rewards part. I get that digital copies and reward codes don't work when I buy something from Europe and I live in the US. There are different rules and they do this so they can track the points/codes used to avoid fraud. Quality of their releases need to be addressed though. They're also putting 2 films a disc now too which sucks.

I understand the points issue to a degree but it's the fact that Disney have released Avengers steels all over the world and are not being consistent in awarding reward points! My German copy had some which I cannot use but the UK version does not give any at all? How is it fair? :(

What annoys me more is how the 3D Disney Blu-Ray releases are extremely limited. All of Disney's 3D Blu-Ray releases that have been released so far have had stickers on the front stating that they are limited editions. Why?

I understand that it is expected that all Disney releases are limited for a short time, but considering how 3D is supposed to be "the next big thing" in home entertainment, it surprises me that they would limit such releases to a small print run! If you don't buy these releases within the first couple of weeks of release, you'll struggle to hunt them down shortly afterwards!

Most Disney's are only just seeing their first release in HD on Blu-Ray, and at this point they should be the definitive editions released by the Disney company. A lot of the main seris of films have been released at least twice on Dvd (original releases and then restored editions), so the Blu-Ray Diamond Editions should be the very best edition available. They should be one all-inclusive package, featuring the Dvd, 2D Blu-Ray, and 3D Blu-Ray!
