The moment when you realize that Bob Iger is having a bad press week, and maybe it would have been prudent to delay the announcement of this release by a week or two lol

the mindy project falling GIF by HULU
Plus he’s got Brian Cranston on his case today. You don’t f**k with Heisenberg!

The thing that I don't get. IF Disney were gonna release Wandavision on Blu-ray, 4k whatever. It would be a wide release, they wouldn't just put however many units (3300 if my maths are right)
They'd milk it for all its worth. Even the 3D versions of everything from Black Widow to Guardians 3 aren't limited to x amount of units.

These are collectors items (I mean steels from premium companies - not just discless - this is all new) and separate to world wide amaray releases in the droves

Which is my point exactly about how people aren't realising that. But that's just me. Probably haven't worded my original post very well or this one tbf

If there's a mess at Disney, and it was actually getting released semi-legally, using a loophole in their contract, and not everyone there was aware of it, I hope it either gets canceled, or pushes them to realize we need this, and other series, on discs.
And that those disks need to be made available to East Asian premium distributors.

Some examples of the bad press for this release:

I'm not watching that video because I can't for the life of me see how this release is insulting to anyone. If you don't want it, then put your money back in your wallet and get mad at Disney. People take this stuff too seriously. Honestly, it's cool to like it or hate it. But it's really not that big a deal. At this point I might buy one and then if the show is ever released on disc I'm going to sell my copy to an insulted collector for $500.

BTW, I'm not taking shots at or responding to you, @MM3. I'm talking about the annoying fools on social media who gladly use this release to manufacture outrage for views and hits. They are so insulted that they just have to take a moral stand and monetize a few videos about it.

<sarcasm>

I personally can't wait for this, as i've been waiting for a discless release to get me to get off my backside and go and get into piracy, go find a torrent and download, burn a BD-ROM and have a decent Wandavision set I can savour for the future.

I'm sure that's what the intention is, don't know why else have a discless steelbook. It really does encourage people to get off their behinds and and burn their own copies, maybe creatives can come up with some disc art we can print on our BD-ROMS to fully complete this set.

Really looking forward to the pre-orders,

</sarcasm>

:naughty:
That's actually what I've been contemplating, researching blank media for the first time in 15 years, since I've only last 'burned' CD-Rs and DVD-Rs, despite having a BD recorder in a Sony notebook since 2008.
Turns out it's hard to get reliable, Japanese made media nowadays, Panasonic discontinued them entirely, and other good companies like TDK and Verbatim long sold their names to China and Taiwan...

That's how the whole Twitter and 'cancel culture' lives, it's ridiculously stupid and appalling.

Watch this be more popular now than originally expected. Bad press or not, it's opened manta up to the otherwise oblivious.
Been thinking about this the last 2 days. This could potentially bring in a lot more custom tbh

Imagine if this goes quicker than blade runner because of the “Bad” press. All the members here that want it screwing because they took their time to order and missed it! Lol

You’ll see an influx of members here by the weekend so they don’t miss out on release info in the future lol

Then we can go through all this again with blufans with new members a day old on their first forum post asking how to be become a VIP and not understanding the blufans ‘process’ between the sites

Oh dear! And that’s from IGN.

Great journalism and research skills on show here!

Update 8:30am: The WandaVision steelbook that does not include discs is not an official Marvel product but is instead being produced by independent company Manta Lab.

Disney's home video team confirmed with Digital Bits founder Bill Hunt that the product is not official despite claiming it's "pending licensor approval".

The following article has therefore been amended to reflect that this is not an official Marvel product, and IGN regrets the error made previously.

Oh god and this from the comicbookmovie article. (The digital code comment lol)

The streamer's first ever Marvel Cinematic Universe series,WandaVision, will debut on limited edition Steelbook on September 27. The set will feature postcards, character cards, a folder, and exclusive release stickers - but no Blu-ray or DVD discs, and it's not yet clear if a digital download will be included.

Okay yeah after looking through tons of comments under posts with high activity (comments and likes) I have a feeling this ‘bad press’ will open Manta up to a huge amount of new customers

Basically bird brain bill has completely backtracked 5 hours ago

But there also seem to be a lot of confusion because of the misinformation and guess work from social media where some are still confused if this is licensed or not and if it includes discs or not despite those tweets getting comments from steel collectors trying to clarify. On top of that there also seem to be people who are interested in the editions for if Disney do decide to release physical media for WandaVision (and the rest of the shows) so they can add discs in the future and also a big number of people who are happy to buy so that they can burn their own discs and include the media themselves

So yeah I have a feeling this will be more popular than the majority here initially thought!

But also the print runs are high and only split between 2 editions this time so who knows. Be interesting to see what’s said on twitter after pre order tbh

I don't think we have much to be afraid of, as none of them know when the preorder is, where it is, and especially that you have to be there the minute it starts.

Also, these 'muppets' consider 'produced by another company' items to not be 'official Marvel', even though 99% of the stuff they buy in Disney theme parks and stores is Chinese made with a 500% price premium.

I definitely can see this selling out quickly. I can also see more than a few insulted and outraged collectors trying to preorder it.

Dunno I’m seeing a lot of people kind of helping out others with the correct info to stop the spread of misinformation which includes the manta site etc. Plus google is the easiest accessible website on the planet, most will also direct to here as visitors and other forums where they can see the info

The worst part, this bill idiot can’t work out the difference between
- Disney/ Marvel home video/ entertainment (it’s not got a physical disc - and this is mainly where the confusion lays)
And
- licensed by Disney/ Marvel (Asia) - which is why they can use the artworks and makes it an official Marvel product.

This is also where this Bill is now backtracking because the users are trying to explain the difference to him which he should already know. And of course his ‘source’ lol must of also explained this to him. But then all I can imagine is him staring into the toilet whilst trying to translate the sounds it makes when it flushes

That’s what I’m seeing anyway

what if all this attention (granted it's still pretty niche and insignificant to the world at large) turns disney in favor of releasing d+ shows on blu-ray, at least?

there are bootlegs of many of the more popular shows all over etsy and ebay. if they're so small fry to not have already been 'Cease & Desist'-ed into a pile of fine powder Disney must really not give a sh*t about losing revenue to actual counterfeiters.

That's not going to happen. Not because of this anyway. They need the pull to their streamer. It looses it's USP if you can watch it on your own whim.
