It's not worth even 5 pounds, Amazon should be giving this away with orders of 25 pounds or more.
The film certainly is, but I agree, the steelbook is slightly lacking.
The colours are quite muted, the artificial shadow on Yul's face could have been done better and the image could be a higher resolution (or it's been degraded for effect).
That said, I still like it, it's just nothing special.
Picked this up last week for €11 over at Zavvi. It is what it is I suppose.........
Did you get a UV code in with the steel @BluSteel2012 ? There's no mention of it anywhere and that's what put me off buying it, as you definitely get one with the amaray release. That sort of crap REALLY annoys the hell out of me - you pay for the most expensive package but you get less content than the bog-standard 40th anniversary amaray.
I've twice tried buying the 40th anniversary edition from two different retailers but BOTH times I received the old non-anniversary version that also has no UV code

Thankfully I jumped on this one very early via Amazon.de at a very nice discounted price of approx. €10. While not a phenomenal steel I needed this classic in my collection and I sure as hell wasn't shelling out for the regular amaray which was always nearly double that price from various retailers. Yul Brynner terrified me as a young lad years ago 
I didn't even realise the UK edition was priced so high until recently. Glad you're all starting to pick it up now.
Anything with the name Michael Crichton attached to it is a winner in my book.

I absolutely love this movie, for me it's the original Terminator. Yul Brynner is terrifying as the robot gunslinger...DRAW! Steelbook was an instant purchase for me when it first came out.

I'm a mega-sucker for classic Sci Fi. Begged for this movie when I was a kid. I remember when Famous Monsters of FIlmland did their rundown on it, with dedicated cover. I still have it.
As for the steelbook not being top notch, I agree it could have been much better. Clearly the person who put it together IMO doesnt necessarily have love for the movie. But at the same time it's one of my childhood favorites and I'm happier than a pig in poo that I have this classic in steelbook form at all. I would recommend this for the avid fan.
Now if only someone would knock out the Phibes movies.......
