Whiplash Steelbook

So tonight I decided to whip out the absolutely gorgeous Whiplash steelbook and re-watch this outstanding movie and it’s jogged my memories of the absolute joke of a design your own! competition that took place for this release. I mean everything down to the chosen winner was farcical since no one wanted it and then they fabricated some story and and changed it to the rightful winner.

Those were the days!

i vaguely remember that. the gloss symbol one is great. do you recall what design won that never happened?

Haha those definitely were the days! I remember they also did a steelbook design competition for Only God Forgives and the Machete sequel. It was a great opportunity for us, but allowing the directors/actors to choose the winning design proved to be a bad idea... they should've allowed collectors (you know, the people that actually buy them) to pick the winner IMO.
