But consider that there were already 1000's of Iron Man future shop on people's shelves. Roger Rabbit was a new release SBook.

you are absolutly correct with your post and i appreciat it . but many people who came later to this addiction out there cant or are not willing to pay the high prices for the grail release from FS and you hardly can get this for a low price in good condition so the IM play.com version was a relative cheap and great looking alternative to the FS version with great demand and IM is IMO more popular than Roger Rabbit. look at the thread of IM play how many views this had over 145 thousand i think its top ranked here.
i must say Roger Rabbit is a really great looking steelbook and it is the first release of this movie as a steelbook with huge demand at the moment but i saw this with so many other steels happen like Battle Royal, Oldboy etc short after release or after OOP high price at evilbay for example and after the hype was gone you could get all of these for a relative good price

At last! Zavvi have changed their packaging!!! 1st copy ordered arrived yesterday at work in a cardboard sleeve surrounded in foam and not a mark on it-well done Zavvi-actually listening to your consumers!:D
will post a photo Monday if I can...

I preordered this from day one and got charged more than the £14.99 when they shipped it. Has Zavvi refunded any of you the difference as per their low price policy? I've e-mailed them about it but so far have had no reply :(

I wouldn't part with this steel, its my girlfriends all time favourite movie snd although she doesn't get my steelbook obsession she loves this steelbook as do I.

Haha my girlfriend hates me collecting steelbooks. She doesn't get that most of them will either keep their value or go up in value. So obviously they're good to collect to sell later on if u want. *tuts* women ;)

Anyway I'm STILL having to look forward to this one. Not even a dispatch email yet :(

No, they haven't.

Also I tried to reuse their packaging and I admit it is awful. Unsafe for shipping overseas. Please don't compare this with play.com packaging.

Not to be a dick, but Zavvi's main concern isn't really having packaging that can be re-used by those looking to make profit on their steels. Plus, did Play even ship outside of the UK? If not, I find your point rather moot and your dissing of Zavvi nothing more than personal. Why not just wait to see whether those from outside the UK who have ordered from Zavvi, tell us if their items arrive undamaged or not, rather than stating something as if it is fact without knowing for sure?

Agree, as long as it gets my package to me in perfect condition, it doesn't matter to me if I can reuse the packaging. It shouldn't be their concern whether we can reuse it. I think they've done their due diligence in regards to packaging. Thanks to Zavvi and Wreck for all their hard work! Looks like another win for the Steelbook community!

I think Zavvi are more than aware that we find reusable packaging a plus for all collectors and only adds positively to their reputation. To say that it isn't a consideration (to them) is not correct. The market for collecting steelbooks is partly built and driven by reselling, and for any retailer, that suits them also.

I'm not saying they're not aware of it. I just think they've done more than enough in regards to packaging. From what I'm seeing from members who have received their copies, it seems like the packaging is working when it comes to getting WFRR to them in a safe manner.

I would also be happy to go back to Play's packaging, too. But again, I think Zavvi has their done their job with the new packaging.
