I don't like people who say they bought one extra for a friend or something. Most of them lie... Maybe 1 out of 10 speaks the truth. I mean, don't they have eyes, fingers and a creditcard to order those damn things themselves? What a cheap way to brag about your 'abilities/resources' to buy more than one copy...

I know what you mean, it's just cowardly saying they are for a friend. I bought 10 copies and I like them so much I'm going to use them as a backsplash for the kitchen :p Should go well with my Play IM placemats and Star Trek FS coasters :hilarious:

I disagree.

The community as a whole is helpful and willing. Most members do buy copies for friends, family & fellow collectors.

For example, I have a US buddy who gets me US steels and a couple here in UK his missed such as skyfall & battle royale so if they come back in stock I get him a copy.

For roger rabbit I done the same when I saw them up again the day. Just 1 copy in case my friend needed it. He got back to yesterday saying he doesn't need it so I've now put my copy up for trade on another site & pmed a few people who desire it to see if they want to trade.

Not everyone are liars and personally I don't see a reason to lie. If you ordered 2,3 or even 10 copies then I can't see why people would lie. Zaavi had bad reputation on postage so many members ordered more so they could get a mint one. If anyone has more than 1 then I don't blame them for selling as by selling 1 at the moment gets your money back for 2 of these.

Well and politely put :)

Of course, none of these guys will be asking us UK Ninjas for help in future, as they clearly understand that we just couldn't assist after seeing our dogs, cats, uncles and aunts right ;)

Although I'm not a ninja and didn't get my card out quick enough ooh er...
I have been offered a trade on roger rabbit by a very kind member even though I hadn't got anything to trade against it in the end.

Well, I believe I have helped others too, so I am not like ''I don't want to help anyone''. I gave away sealed copies of Iron Man (Play.com), True Grit and E.T. just a while ago on BR forum. But I just can't believe everyone is buying a second copy for whoever they claim they are buying it for. That just doesn't make any sense. Why don't they order for themselves? Why do they want a STEELBOOK copy? If they are steelbook collector's, they should order it for themselves. It just doesn't make any sense. I am sorry, but I just don't believe it...

I have bought steelbooks for others a few times, but those were members of the steelbook community who asked for it in a special thread I created.

Why is it hard to believe that people would order copies for people other than themselves? Maybe not everyone who says they are ordering to help out others are genuine, but most are. I've done it myself in the past and those people have been grateful and offered me a great trade in return. There are some members who have traded together for years and sometimes they even buy Steelbooks to send as gifts. Not everyone is buying a thousand copies to put on eBay.

Threads that turn out like this always makes me laugh, not at the pain of members who are unable to obtain a copy of course.

If you want to guarantee a steelbook, you make sure you get your order in as soon as you can. If you dither, you run a huge risk of missing out. Happened to me in the past, which is one of the reasons I joined this forum.

When anything is limited in numbers, it encourages people to buy up a few copies because it's easy money. It's like that with anything, not just steelbooks.

Until companies like Zavvi stop people from buying so many, this will always happen. Amazon have done this to a certain extent.

So discussions around this are completely futile and if I'm being honest, completely boring to read.

Very well said. I ordered 6 copies, different times. One for myself, 3 for some friends of my country and the rest just in case some buddies miss this out. Needless to say i made 2 buddies happy. :D Also a friend of mine ordered multiples copies (the same way as i did ) and i asked him 3 of them for other 3 buddies from Asia. ;) In the end of the day, i just have one for myself. And i'm happy helping people out.

hmm.. not sure if u're being ironic or not. :(

Still, i believe for those who have buddies around the world, cares about helping them out too. Speaking for myself, i help them out at my cost - of course -, but they also help me back. Buddies above all. :emb::thumbs:
