Thats a real shame. My Godfather came yesterday new packaging nice big scratch on the front its obvious it was packed and shipped this way. Boooooooo

Think they are trying to be funny at Zavvi, just received an email concerning my cancellation:

There has been a problem processing the payment for your order. The item is in stock but we are unable to resolve this and as a result have cancelled your order. If you still wish to purchase this item, please can we ask that you log into your account and replace your order.

Yeah right....

Zavvi's CS sucks.. one CS rep told me I would be charged the lower price (10.95) then another CS rep says that was a mistake and I would be charged 14.95 instead.

As a "reputable" company you should always stand behind what your CS reps say and not go back on your word, it makes you look bad and leaves a bad taste in your customers mouth.

Sorry for ranting folks, but I am a little pissed about that.

EXACTLY WHAT I SAID ABOUT THIS CRAP PACKAGING. Funny how some people were well impressed with it. I tell you this there will be lot more damaged steels now due to this new packaging. Its not just the overseas shipping its internal as well. Its not up to the job. Maybe Zavvis new best friend can pass on my comments.

What the hell are you on about ?. Whilst obviously not perfect, the new packaging is way better tham the old flimsy cardboard envelopes they used to use so I can't see how you think more steels will be damaged by using it.

That's just absurd.

When you decide to improve something, you have to do it well.
It is not very difficult to protect well a steelbook. They only need a more solid cardboard and a bigger piece of foam --> play.com former packaging...

I don't know how was Zavvi's packaging before, and I don't care. All I know is that a big part of my future orders from them will arrive dented... and as the steels are now OOS, no replacement. I'm owned

Blu Im judging by my own experience. So far I have received the godfather trilogy and roger rabbit both damaged. 2 out of 2 is what im going on. Judging by others on here the majority feel the same way about it. That is all.

Ok I have to chip in here I'm afraid it's not down to the packaging imo but it appears a lot of these steelbook's were shipped damaged and with paint chips etc. this is not really zavvi's fault but rather that of the manufacturing process/company and down to quality control or lack off! it's like ok so we have to print 3k copy's ok but no more if some are dented or scratched ahh so what it's still part of the 3k we've done our job. they're getting lazy and this will be there downfall the way it should be is if there is a damaged SB weather dented or scratch or paint chips it should be done again in other words there should be 3k perfect copy's to leave the factory spine slashes and like should never be an issue I mean really stand by your company and your product or you may find you start to lose money instead of making it.

Edit: although zavvi should now be on the phone telling them what's what and to get there quality control sorted it would be interesting if another company decided to manufacture steelbooks then they would be forced to up there game.

It's definitely an improvement. Far from perfect though.

My copy actually has a paint chip on it too. Nothing to do with the packaging though, maybe some of this ire should be directed towards Scanavo.

Zavvi's packaging is fine. Had 4 steelbooks arrive fine even with the flumsy cardboard dleeve. Maybe your postman hates you.

Majority of the responses have been positive about the packaging as far as I'm aware. Plus if someone receives a damaged steelbook you are going to hear about it but if someone receives one in mint condition you aren't going to necessarily find out about it. The loud minority always sounds more than the quiet majority and all that. Zavvi have come on leaps and bounds with this packaging, granted they still aren't perfect but neither were Play. I know plenty of people who received damaged steels from Play.

Anyway back on topic, never got round to ordering it first time and didn't even find out it was back in stock, until it was out of stock again. So I took a punt and bought one from zavvi on eBay. Hoping they still use the new packaging on their eBay items, will soon find out as it was shipped today.

that doesn't look good for the Indiana Jones steels :ohno:

i guess we'll need a miracle to have a mint copy of all 4 steelbooks :(

I think it was already damage before because the packaging was in perfect condition, when I opened the box the steel was really bent on the edge!
You can see the edge is higher and next to it is a huge dent, but unfortunately you can not see it in the picture, that's why the edge is so high because of the large dent!

perhaps you would be able to fix it, it seems like that should be possible to maintaining it between 2 tissue in a vise ?

They need to go overkill on the packaging nothing less will do. I work in retail and part of my job is to make sure my customers orders arrive in pristine condition. We all know things go wrong from time to time but packaging issues crop up on here many times daily when it is so easily resolved. I will start a poll and see how it goes.

I'd might pay a little bit extra for better packaging but perhaps we already are seeing some of the prices lately!...(20 quid for StudioCanal steelbooks?)...
Just as worrying tho is the drop in quality control at the factory...Ted (damage on back of steelbook), Lawless (numerous paint chips), End Of Watch...etc etc etc....
Personally I have put my steelbook buying on hold indefinetely. I've had it having to return damaged steelbooks- completely takes the fun of collecting away.
