Why is gmail so freaking slow?!

so apparently they lie, and your trash isn't automatically cleaned every 30 days. i've been noticing the last few weeks that gmail has gotten slower and slower. so i check..only using 20% of the mailbox, seems reasonable. but just opening a new email takes 10+ seconds..on any browser/computer

well i checked and there are thousands of emails in the trash that haven't been deleted. so i delete them and now i'm at 1% usage..and gmail FLIES

if you're not using a lot of you space, i saw suggestions to clear cache. assuming its only on your computer that is

check your sent messages tho

I had over a 1000 spam emails in my trash dating back to February. My gmail flies and I get my hotmail there too.
