I mean, most of my steels are only 1 disc with minimal extras. I get that we buy steels because of the artwork and the fact that they are steels, but it sucks that for the most part we get shafted on the content.
For instance, I'm eyeing up Play's Iron Man 1 & 2 on eBay at the moment and I just watched a YouTube video showing them off. Single disc releases. Then I look at my amarays and both have additional discs full of extras, and Iron Man 2 even has a digital and DVD copy. Also, I bought Zavvi's Finding Nemo when it released with no 3D disc which wound me up no end. Should've got the German one but what can you do?
I think that the steelbook should be the second tier release, second only to an awesome collectors boxset. Something like:
Tier 4: Standard amaray
Tier 3: 3D amaray (if available)
Tier 2: Steelbook, including any extra content discs and 3D disc (if available)
Tier 1: Super collectors edition, something like the Dark Knight Trilogy UCE
Usually when I buy a steelbook of a film I already own (in this case, Iron Man 1 & 2) I trade in the amarays at CEX to put towards a new bluray. But this time I might have to keep the amarays otherwise I'll be losing 2 discs full of extras.
What do you guys think?
