I probably should have listed more lol. Equilibrium is actually one of my favourite movies, has been since it came out lol. And Van Damme is fairly well represented in my collection. I was thinking more asian cinema less Hollywood.
Equilibrium is a great film and I find a lot of people haven't seen it.
Unfortunately I won't be much help on suggestions as most of mine are probably too mainstream

Can anyone recommend me a few movies. Like I have a serious gap in my martial arts collection. Like I have a few, the raid, Ipman, Bruce lees good ones, but I really wanna get more. Some Sinny Sonny Chiba maybe. Can yall just throw some great ones at me.

Not Police Story though, I haven't seen them. But I have the boxset ordered.
Kill Bill Vol 1 and 2 should fit the bill. See what I did there??? I just can't be stopped.

I’ve heard good things about (Blind Swordsman: ) Zatoichi (2003). It’s supposed to be on PlutoTV with ads. I’m going to try to watch it, later.

You‘ll probably enjoy actor/director Takeshi Kitano’s Yakuza/gangster films.

Funny enough my wife was looking at a steelbook of that the other day. She apparently loves it.

Police Story 1 has an amazing intro, bear with it after as it's quite slapsticky until the amazing end; 2 and 3 are much more full on action. other Jackie Chan you must see include Drunken Master, Snake in the Eagle's Shadow, and The Young Master (all older traditional kung fu movies) and the two Armour of God films (modern Indiana Jones style. agree with recommendations above for anything by Sammo Hung, too, another actor/director and frequent Chan collaborator.

the Ong-Bak trilogy is superb. the first one is modern set and has a slow start, but the second one - notionally a 'sequel' but set hundreds of years earlier in ancient times o_O - is one of the better martial arts films i've ever seen. quite brutal (recommendation), and with a brilliant villain. the 3rd is a direct sequel to the 2nd.

i'd also recommend Lady Snowblood from the late 70s, and the black and white original Zatoichi films (the ones Criterion did a gorgeous set for, although i appreciate they're not for everyone, as they are much more about honour and drama than set pieces). speaking of black and white, even though it's more of a drama/action than a martial arts film, you must watch Kurosawa's Seven Samurai if you never have.

btw, have you seen The Raid 2 yet? it's The Raid but epic, over 2 and a half hours and a whole city. carries on directly from the first one.

@chunk, any other recommendations?

I got the 88 films release of Armour of god, i found it a little bit of a tough watch tbh. Zatoichi I wanna watch, heard good things. I have the Drunken master on dvd, need to upgrade. I love Ong Bak and Especially Where's my Elephant (Warrior king, tom yum goong) and yeah I have to raid 2 too. Ill try and check out your other suggestions, much thanks.

Any of the old Bruce Lee and Brandon Lee martial art films were pretty excellent. I'd also say, GI JOE: Snake Eyes simply on the point the film is a better martial art film then a GI JOE film since I'm an avid fan of the old series/ cartoons and this film is a rubbish Joe film...

You already own the Raid which is pretty sick, and Kung Fury which is actually getting a sequel after years & years of being told we'd get a sequel =D My friend named Max a professional Krav Maga instructor is a stuntman in the up-coming movie.

I love Kung Fury but I can't find a physical release. I'd love a steel of it. Maybe I should get a custom one but I'm not a huge fan of customs tbh.

I keep looking for updates on the sequel, which is a full movie but last I heard a backer from China was refusing to pony up the money they promised and it halted post production.

Jinxykattes question of the day. I'm not feeling particularly creative today lol. So...

If you woke up with Mystiques powers, what would be the first thing you would do and how would you then spend your day?

I would shape shift into my dad, who I lost to cancer in 1988, and stand in front of a mirror all day basking in the wonderful feeling of looking at my dad again. And I would mimic his voice, pick up a guitar, and sing a bunch of Hank Williams Sr. songs like he used to do. Then I'd shift back and more than likely cry.

My dad was awesome. The greatest man I ever knew. He loved his family. His name was Louis.

Indeed. When I joined the Army in the late 70's I was away from home for 4 years and lost track of some of my collectibles. Years later visiting my mom (sometime in the 2000's) I was cleaning out some junk from you back porch and came across a box with a bunch of plastic in it. Seems while I was away, my dad didn't want anything to happen to my collectibles so he went out of his way and wrapped them in plastic to preserve them. I can't tell you the feels that rushed thru me upon that discovery.

Just one last thing. When I was around 12 years old I was leaving the Boys Club after swimming all day and found these flyers laying all over the ground around the bike rack. The flyers were advertising a movie at the 20th Century Drive In called Dracula Has Risen From the Grave. Being the little monster lover I was I rushed home with a flyer in hand just hoping my dad would take me (Mom was in Dallas visiting her mother). I remember giving him the flyer and pleading to go see it. He just laughed and said "Okay!!" He was really yucking it up during the movie, making all these srange Halloween scary sounds. LOL.

My secondary choice would be to morph into The Batman, and just walk around all day being The Batman. Saving the day and stuff.

Yep, you got some of the top ones already such as Equilibrium, Zatoichi, Enter the Dragon, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon & Hero. Perhaps mostly more swords than Martial Arts but certainly to have on your viewing list

Woke up with Mystiques powers?

Well, switch that look to Rebecca Romijn being Mystique in the X-Men (2000) movie!

Spend the rest of the day cooking eggs for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner and evening snacks due to being naked of course. Best wear a tabard as hot oil can burn when splashed.
