Tonight Mathew, I will identify with Martin Brody, Chief of Police as I'm going to be watching Jaws (1975) in IMAX at 5pm today :cigar:
I wanted to see the 3D release but sadly it was nowhere near me.

Just a question: Why do you identify with Chief Brody and not Oceanographer Matt Hooper or maybe even pieces of Quint???

Excellent question, sir.

I've gone for Brody due to doing the right thing in a difficult situation, perhaps the paranoia also weights in. Hooper is a subject matter expert oceanographer (and I'm IT) so can relate in that respects. Quint on the other hand is a hunter and a drinker, I certainly can relate to the latter trait in my earlier years and have survived that era.

I think that is why this film works for me, these three characters are relatable probably more in their faults than successes, does that make sense?

In the UK, I have 3D release on my doorstep (this would have been preferred.) However, in this instance my son does want to go and cannot see 3d very well (headaches), so going for IMAX 40 minutes away. Really making the effort and I've not seen IMAX at cinema yet, so a first for me too

I sympathize with your son and his vision issues with 3D.

I had a chemical accident years ago and burned my eyes badly. Took me a while to feel normal. Didn't realize its major impact on me until I went to see a movie in a theater and my eyes would not stop tearing up. Had to quit going to the cinema, which is a place I've lived most my life. :(

Happily, JAWS came to my little town theater a few years back and, completely forgetting about my issue, rushed to the window to buy a ticket. lol. Got my popcorn, Soda, found a seat in the small but crowded auditorium (with a lot of kids who hadn't seen it-which is awesome) and waited. The lights went down, the camera rolled, and I immediately remembered as my eyes began to tear. I remember vividly thinking to myself "Oh crap" when that happened. But I dried my eyes with my shirt and took my focus off the screen to try and get my eyes accustomed to the dark, and slowly looked back up at the screen. It took a couple times, but my vision kind of corrected itself and after the initial worry, I was fine!

So not only did I get to see JAWS on the big screen again, I got passed my eye issue as well. Have seen a couple films since and no problemo. What a great feeling it is knowing I can go to the movies again.

I'm assuming your son has seen JAWS? If no, you should post action photos. lol.

Have a wonderful time!!!

Thanks! That accident sounds horrific, but good to hear you've overcome that tragedy especially in relation to seeing Jaws on the big screen, and leading to further visits to something you love and important to you too.

I can relate your your experience about eyes adjusting as I too sometimes, not often have tearing up to cleanse the eyeballs. It's tiredness for me that's the trigger. I've not had the trauma though you've experienced that puts a totally different spin on how this would be dehabilitating.

For my son, no, he has not seen it and that key jump scare scene mid movie, is the one I'm looking forward to for reaction. I'm such a terrible parent :naughty:

I am going to say John Wick. He really just wanted to be left alone, it was the idiots of the world that set him off
The set-up for this film is both brutal and perfect. Anyone with any heart at all can understand losing the love of your life, and then having a living memory of her taken from you as you grieve. Especially when you are the worlds number 1 assassin.

You really wanted to see John just mow people down after the first 10 minutes of the movie.

So I am thinking about finally getting around to trying to make some actual videos to upload to youtube instead of just posting photos on Instagram. Does anyone have any suggestions for something I could do. Like 4k reviews are out, cos honestly there are smarter and better people than me out there for that. Same with reviews, like who the fck cares what I think of the new MCU movie lol. I was thinking about just maybe making videos about steelbooks, talking about the steelbook and maybe a little information about the movie. But I am open to ideas for a niche I can fill.

Good luck, it is always difficult to find a niche as everything always feels like it has already been done.
Unfortunately I am not imaginative enough to help but if I think of anything, will certainly let you know but your idea sounds decent

Thanks. I have been wanting to do it for a while. But I either have a fear of success or failure, or both lol. I mean I'm not imagining I'll get like a million sub channel. I just wanna make some videos and I think steelbooks might be a good thing. Sometimes it can be so hard to find photos that aren't mock ups.

The way I see it, if it is something you want to do and enjoy it, thats all that matters unless you are doing it as a business, if you are doing it for yourself, you can't fail, even if nobody views it, you have done something and done it for yourself

Almost all, if not all, video's on steelbooks are pretty much just reveals of the steelbook.

What could set you apart is if you did the video on a specific steelbook release, but from a collector's perspective, mentioning previous steelbook releases of the film (showing stock photo's) and if the steel is sold out or not, what the current ebay value is, etc. You could give special mention to premiums offered by Manta, FAC, etc...

Maybe you could do an approval rating score here at the Ninja for the editions you are doing? I know there is the ability to do polls. That would have to pass muster with the admins I would think. IF you went that route.

Just a couple thoughts.
